Default Chronic fatigue: Yuppie flu or dangerous illness?

Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS), also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), is a devastating and widely misunderstood illness, which effects over one million Americans – mostly women. Though met with much skepticism, chronic fatigue and its debilitating effects are very real and can be very dangerous. May 12 is National CFIDS Awareness Day but now is the time for you to educate yourself on CFIDS and see if you are at risk.

Tara was 17 years old when it started. One day the enthusiastic high school senior began to feel achy, dizzy and sick. The glands in her neck were swollen and tender and she had a fever. The school nurse sent her home. The family doctor assumed it was mononucleosis.
