Low CarbClick here to post to other "low-carbers".
I just read about "Kimkins" in a magazine that I'd recently
purchased. At the moment, the name of the mag is escaping me.
Anyways, has anyone tried it? If so, how did you do?
tia!!

found this information. not sure i like the idea of kimkins. basically due to the calories that you are to get... 800 calories a day is way too low.
Kimkins Basics:
700 to 1100 calories/day (averaging 800 cal/day)
50% fat (which is 38 to 61 g/day...you will find this is a strict amount so fats must be kept sparse, but have enough for flavor so you don't give up)
20g/day Total Carbs (no subtractions of anything) which is less than 10% carbs
40% protein (which is about 70 to 110 g/day)
Clean Eating/No Frankenfoods/No Sugar Alcohols (keep it simple with fresh cooked meats and veg and limit dairy) All the low carb products like bars, shakes, candies, etc have to be avoided...save them for a reward after goal on a limited basis (don't want to gain it back)
Kimkins has been found to be a scam. If you google it, you will find lots of information. It's really not a low carb diet, it's a vlcd. (very low calorie diet). The "plan behind the plan" actually went as low as 300 - 400 calories a day. Many members have had health problems due to the low calories.
I saw the scam info too. I was floored to read about it. IMO the diet calls for far too little cals a day anyway...it's not healthy to starve yourself either
