Icon10 OT Baby update (XP)

Well today was my first "official" appointment with my Dr. In our clinic you continue to see your family Dr until 36 weeks and then you start seeing your OB. Needless to say I made sure she was aware that when referring me I wanted an OB to do a scheduled c/s and tie my tubes at the same time! With that said my Dr's scale said I was down 2lbs from my home scale so I say I am going with that! So far this pregnancy I have lost about 5 or 6 lbs but have stayed the same since finding out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago. We were able to find the HB after prodding around for a few minutes and it was around 140 and sounded great. I am cool to keep up my exercise and she has said no less than 1500 cals per day, of course I'm cool with that but after losing 32lbs I want my weight gain to be at a min for this pregnancy! Anyways I am just trying to decide whether I want to do the test for the genetic stuff or not, haven't decided yet. Anyways other than that I will see her in a month and I will have my "big u/s" at 18-20 weeks depending on when I can get an appointment.

Thanks for the update! I've been wondering. As a matter of fact I just sent a nosey email yesterday, but you probably haven't had time to look at it. Glad things went well and you got the go ahead to continue your exercise.

Are you over 35, Sarah? I probably wouldn't have gone straight to the amnio with my 2 pregnancies if I hadn't been 40 and then 40+. If I would have been in my mid 30's, I probably would have done the level II ultrasound and then gone from there. I know my doc said that the AFP test would most likely come back + due to me being 40 and would cause undue worry or me to have the amnio anyway, so I opted out of paying for something that would likely send me on to the next level anyway. I passed again this time, since I was having the amnio too. Whatever you decide, we're behind you. Praying for a happy healthy baby - after all this baby is an absolute double miracle - by surviving an IUD in the first place!

Seems like everything went wonderful Sarah How exciting another little one

I was thinking the samething like Shannon asked Are you over 35? because thats when I think its a must to do those kinds of testing... I never had that done, with my first baby when I was 22 my test came back as me being a 40 year old woman, so they wanted to do the Amnio but I was too scrared and opted not to, and he was fine and healthy when he came out... I am 32 now, so hopefully I will not be 35 when I get Preggo again because I am so scrared of those needles

Thanks ladies I am 32 as well Pamela and still will be when this little one arrives. I have had 2 healthy babies and neither of our families have any history of any of the things they are looking for. I talked to DH today and he agrees with me, basically i want to enjoy my pregnancy and whatever will be will be regardless of whether we know now or then. So basically we have decided not to bother. We will however have the developmental u/s around 20 weeks as well as a 3D u/s closer to 30 weeks.

I was 42 when I had Collin and opted for no testing. Im not sure if the tests would have picked up on his heart defect but looking back I probably would not change a thing. I would have opted out of it.
