Default Water HSG

I have to have a water HSG to make sure that I don't have any scar tissue from my c-section. As an admitted wimp, I'm scared. I heard it's painful.

Can anyone shed some light??

My clinic requires everyone to have a water sono before they do IVF. I was teriffied before I went because I had recently gone for a HSG were they inject the dye to see if your tubes are open and that was not fun!

The water sono is different. It was very quick and I really didn't feel anything. I think it took my Doctor about 10 minutes. The uterus is just filled enough with water so they can see on the sonogram if there are any abnormalities that would prevent implantation. When you are done the water just drains out. Why would they think you have scarring from your c-section? Did you develop an infection after?
Try not to be nervous....I know it's hard! This is actually a good test for them to make sure everthing looks good. Let us know how it goes.

I had this done, too - you will cramp a bit when they push the fluid, but it wasn't as much cramping as the HSG, and it is really quick. Most of it feels like a pap or an IUI, and they use the vaginal u/s machine, so you might feel a touch of pressure. You'll be fine!!

I just had it done a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't all that bad. A little uncomfortable but very much like a pap. I did get some cramping but it's nothing for me to whine over now. Good luck and try to RELAX while you are having it done. That always helps! You might want to take some motrin/tylenol before hand to try and ward the cramping.

I had one done before this last cycle, and I agree with the other girls. For me it was a cross between a pap smear and an HSG, but the cramping was NOTHING like I experienced with my HSG. It was over before I knew it, and the cramping lasted for no more than 30 min to an hour and I was back to normal. Good luck!

I never had one with my previous IVF. The more this RE does, the more I think that my old RE was a quack. Yes, she got me pregnant with my twins and I'm forever grateful, but still....

I had a lot of cramping with the dye HSG to the point of nausea.

My RE doesn't think that I have any scarring from my c-section, he just wants to make sure. I hope I don't. I'm poking it right now and it feels fine. I wish I could just tell him that I passed the "poke test."

But, if there is one thing I've learned in my IF journey, I can pretty much handle anything.
