Severe Headaches while Stimming????

Hi Ladies,

Sorry to be such a lurker - I'm not supposed to be signed on to the boards while in the office but it's the only time I find to get on-line. I do find so much strength in reading each of your successes and I mourn with each of you in every disappointment.

I do have a question for all of you super-cyclers -- have you ever had severe headaches/migraines from the stim meds? I'm on Lupron and Follistim and I can't get rid of the pain in my head which is going on at least a week now. I know I'm not supposed to take anything but Tylenol, however, I've had to dip into the Imitrex and Tylenol w/codeine to get some sleep. Any advice on how to find relief? Or any other meds that you may have been given to squash the pain?

I think my next step is acupuncture!

Baby dust to all of you and prayers for many successes! I truly wish to spend more time getting to know each of you better - maybe next week after my transfer I can hog the computer and visit with you and spend some quality time.

Sabrina-
I have horrible migraines in general and IVF has really made things worse. If the pain is really bad, I have taken a vicodin or whatever pain med the RE has given me for the retrieval. For me sleep is the best weapon against headaches so that is my first priority.
Also, sometimes caffeine helps me too.

I do know that imitrex is not considered safe in pregnancy.

I think that pain definitely makes this much harder both physically and emotionally.

Thanks so much for the reply. I too sometimes get migraines but never this many in a row..and sleep is often the best medicine...just how to get to sleep is the question? I'm hoping that the Vicodin doesn't harm the uterine lining. I go tomorrow for my U/S & bloodwork so I guess I'll know then if I'm doing more harm than good. Thanks again. It's nice to know I'm not the only one to ever suffer. The RN in my RE's office acted like she'd never had a patient with a headache before...

Hey Sabrina,

Ask your dr. if you can have vicodin. They put me on that the day of my ER. I'm so sorry you are having those nasty head aches. Yes i too had really bad headahces during the stim portion of TTC. I hope that the dr. will help you out some how. We can't wait to hear more from you later. Know that we are here to support you too. Good luck next week, let us know if you need anything. I got bad headaches from the lupron, but never a migrane. Ask your RE about vicodin I know a lot of people who took it!

Yes, I had headaches during stimming, but mine always went away with just extra strength Tylenol. I hope you find something you can take that helps!

I am so sorry to hear about your headaches. I got headaches on some cycles but I chose to stick to Extra Strength Tylenol. I was scared to use anything more.

Sorry you're having headaches. I think acupuncture is a great idea. I've benefited from it for back pain and also used it to balance my hormones. I had high E2 frequently and had to keep cancelling IUIs in 2006. My levels are completely normal now.
