?'s for those who travel - thanks --
I just found out that I'll need to travel about 1 1/2 hours for the ER and ET with a possible overnight for ER due to DH's side of things.
How do you ladies cope with this? does it make things harder? Any tips or suggestions to make this go smoother?
Thank you.

I traveled 2.5 hours one way to my RE. Leave earlier than expected, because you NEVER know what traffic will be like at any given time
If you work, I always made my appointments for early morning that way i could be back for a half day of work and not miss so much.
If I can ask why the stay over? Are you talking the night before the ER?
As far as ET I just stayed the recommended time and then we drove home and stopped at Wendys for food on the way home...I then put my feet up on the dash board and reclined the seat and tried to sleep the rest of the way home.

I agree with Stacie.
My RE is about an hour away from our house.
For the ER and ET, we just gave ourselves plenty of extra time, and it really wasn't a problem.
I wouldn't recommend staying over, if you don't have to. I felt pretty crummy after my ER, and it was so nice to just lie in my own bed.
Good luck with everything!

Oh, I forgot to add..
My DH had to have the surgery to extract his swimmers too.
My parents drove us down to the RE, since the surgeries were done at the same time.

Stacie & Kristin,
Thanks I feel much better now. Yes, Stacie DH needs to have either PESE or MESE - we are hoping for PESE which is a butterfly needle inserted into testicle to extract live sperm. The MESE is an operation where they extract tissue to get live sperm.
The surgies ER and DH's need to be done at the same time, thank goodness both dr's work hand in hand. Dr. is stating that if it is MESE we will need to stay over possibly for his recheck the following morning.
Kristin - if you don't mind me asking which type did your DH have? and How did he feel?
All this will be difficult for us and noone knows we are doing this. So getting rides and getting someone to watch our kids will not be an easy task. Well, I suppose it could be worse right - hopefully my BFP will be around the corner.
If the old saying for every death there is a birth - I think we've got ours and two other people's covered. Baby Dust to ALL! So far this year, I've lost my Dad and two aunts.

Justine-
I pray this cycle works for you guys.
I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad and your aunts.
My DH had the surgery where they had to make an incision to get his sperm out. He actually had to have it done twice. Once, for a biopsy, we wanted to make sure he had live sperm, and the second time for the actual extraction. He was basically unable to do much of anything for about 3 days. He's still sore several months later, but he's able to work, run, wear boxers again! LMAO at the thought of my DH in those goofy tighty whities!!
I hope your DH has the less invasive of the two surgeries, but either way, I'm sure he'll do great. You both will!!

I traveled across the country. I was monitored at my local RE for the beginning of the cycle and as soon as the follies started to get bigger, I flew to my out-of-town RE and I have been staying in a hotel. Could you get monitored at your obgyn a few times to save yourself the trip? Where is south florida do you live if you don't want to answer don't worry. I've got lots of family there and I am hoping to move there one day.

Justine, I just read your post and the comment about the three losses you went through... I lost my aunt last Jan, my uncle (her husband) last Feb, and recently my dad, too (Sep). I've heard that saying too... and I'm hoping that means that you and I will both get pg this year... Babydust to you... Good luck with the traveling. I'm no help there (sorry) since my RE is only about 20-30 min away.
