Quick Update on my Mom (o/t)
I just wanted to say first to all the new s I keep lurking to watching everyone's progress and I'm so happy for everyone.
Since I last wrote I have now more news on my mom than I did before.
She has Stage II breast cancer. On Tuesday she had surgery for a port and started Chemotherapy this Wednesday. She has some redness also and they are worried this might be something more aggressive why they have started the chemo right away. She had testing to see if it had gone elsewhere and so far everything has looked good. After the chemo they are talking about a full mastectomy followed by radiation. I'm sure this will be a most trying year for my family but I hope all of this proves successful. Thank you always for the support and prayers.

They have come so far in how they are able to treat breast cancer. I hope it turns out to be very beneficial for your mother.
Blessings to you and your whole family.

Re: Quick Update on my Mom (o/t)
Shawna,
Thank you for the update. It really sounds as if the doctors have this under control, THANK GOD!
My best friend's mom had breast cancer and had only one breast removed, it then came back in her other breast the next year so I'm SOO glad to hear that your mom is having a 'full mastectomy'.
My prayers continue with you and your family.
Stay strong and keep us posted.
P.S. (How have you been feeling through all this? I hope you're taking time to take care of you as well!)

Shawna, thank you for the update. Even though I haven't been around much as of late, I've been thinking about your mom. I agree with Marian, they have come a long way over the years on treatment for breast cancer!!! I hope all goes well with her, and you & your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. (And, BTW, as Renee asked, how are YOU doing with all this going on?)

Re: Quick Update on my Mom (o/t)
I thought I was okay with everything but on Tuesday we went in to get her from her surgery for the port and I felt weak and dizzy standing there watching her and trying to get her to leave. She had chemo on the Wednesday and I thought she handled it pretty well so I felt encouraged. But since she hasn't really had an appetite and has a headache that the tiniest noise bothers her and she can't sleep at night. She told me last night she feels a lot lousier than anticipated. She had the idea that she could do chemo on Thursday and be back my Monday for work. It's hard to watch her right now... I have some cold sores which I only get when I'm either stressed or worried. I'm trying my best to pray and leave it in God's hands all the worry I feel concerning my mom. I think they have come along way for treatments but I don't think they are any easier to go through. This was week one so 19 more weeks of chemo to go and I hope it goes by quickly.

Re: Quick Update on my Mom (o/t)
Shawna,
Sweetie I'm so sorry that your family has to go through this. I'm praying for God to hear our prayers and send relief and healing. We are here for you and know that your prayers are not falling on death ears. Trust God to do what HE is able to do. I've been down a simular rd. with my grandma. We prayed and cried , but we never gave up hope and trust that God could and would bring healing. I'm glad to say that he did, and she is till here, Praise God From Whom All Blessing Flow. Hold on to his unchanging hand he want let you or your family fall. Keep the faith Shawana.

Re: Quick Update on my Mom (o/t)
I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns. On Sunday my sister was able to convince my mom to take some of her anti-nausea medicine (not sure why she had not done so on her own). I'm so excited to say she seems to be feeling much better. When we left Sunday night she was lethargic just sitting on the couch not really moving. Tonight she called and was going to try some leftover roast beef I had brought home while I was there. So encouraged she has an appetite again and is attempting to eat again. I feel such a sense of relief b/c she wasn't doing that well but now have hope we can get through this.

Re: Quick Update on my Mom (o/t)
Just wanted to add that I too will keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers. Cancer is a horrible evil thing! Please take care of yourself during this time also.
