I'm just taking a poll of how many IVFs you went through before a BFP, or if you've done multiple IVFs, but still have no BFP. If you wouldn't mind sharing your IF problems, too, it would be much appreciated. We're about to embark on our first IVF - I have mild PCOS, and DH has MFI, and we are trying to decide whether to do pay-as-you go, or shared risk. Our shared risk is about 2x the cost of a single IVF, and it gives us 6 attempts, and a full refund if we do not have a live birth. We're leaning towards going that route, but I was just curious about what it takes for most people. Thanks - any information you can provide would be welcome!

We had six cycles.

I would have to say that in the end it was POF that finally got us. We had a ton of difficulties, none of them significant, but enough to deter pregnancy without IVF.

Without insurance and if I had qualified, I would without a doubt go with the pre-paid/guarantee program. But I'm just saying this in hindsight. It's pretty easy to see in hindsight. But, I never would have thought in a million years that it would have taken us six attempts either.

Well just to clarify.

WE did 2 fresh and 2 fets. The second fresh worked for me so did the 2nd fet.

SO technically it was the 3rd try.

It took us 4 cycles all fresh. We had great insurance coverage though. Our place does offer a shared risk program. We were diagnosed at unexplained infertiltiy and I too never thought it would take so many cycles, but it did. The funny thing is before I did IVF, if we had no insurance coverage, I would have definately gone the shared risk route, but once I did cycle after cycle, I don't know if I would have done 6 cycles. This past cycle was probably going to be it for us for at least a while. I had really hit my breaking point and did not think I could go through it again. Good luck with whatever you choose.

We got our BFP on the 2nd cycle (fresh).

Now we do IF coverage which is 50% of the negotiated rate for all treatments... all my testing was 100% covered.
