I actually have a needle phobia, so IVF was really difficult for me. The little lupron needles are wonderful - they really don't hurt. I still had trouble sticking myself if I could feel it at all, so I actually bought numbing cream. There are some available by prescription, and others that are over-the-counter. I would apply the numbing cream about 1 hr before I needed to do my shot, and then by the time I was ready, I couldn't feel a thing! That wasn't about pain prevention for me - it was just about mentally allowing myself to relax about it because I knew I wouldn't feel the shot. A few times, I missed the numb spot

(yeah, not so bright) so I do know what the shots feel like (not bad at all) but I preferred being numb!
