Default Pokey pokey

So I am one of those severe scardy cats when it comes to needles and I start my Lupron tomorrow for the first time ever...yikes. So today my DH let me stick him so I would know what it felt like to put the needle in, then he did it to himself. Luckily he says he barely felt it and I calmed down significantly. Sigh, that was actually a huge step, when I first got the needles I almost passed out when I opened one to practice on an orange. So I guess being able to give someone else a shot means I have come along way.

Here goes...

Ahhhh, lupron is easy peasy!! Its the PIO that you need to worry about

JUST KIDDING...its not bad at all, really. Do you get to take PIO? Just wait for your DHs reaction when you stick him with that NEEDLE

You'll do great. Just try not to overthink it. And it does get easier and easier.

I actually have a needle phobia, so IVF was really difficult for me. The little lupron needles are wonderful - they really don't hurt. I still had trouble sticking myself if I could feel it at all, so I actually bought numbing cream. There are some available by prescription, and others that are over-the-counter. I would apply the numbing cream about 1 hr before I needed to do my shot, and then by the time I was ready, I couldn't feel a thing! That wasn't about pain prevention for me - it was just about mentally allowing myself to relax about it because I knew I wouldn't feel the shot. A few times, I missed the numb spot (yeah, not so bright) so I do know what the shots feel like (not bad at all) but I preferred being numb!
