Default Planes & Syringes

Help!! I just realized that my next business trip is Thursday/Friday, and I will be on Lupron! So .. . for all of you ladies who have taken planes while doing IVF, do you have any advice for traveling with syringes and Lupron? I'm so worried about screwing it up or having problems, so any advice you have is welcome! Did TSA hassle you? Did you have to do anything special to pack your meds and get through security? I really want to carry on my meds because I'm worried about them losing my luggage. Thanks, ladies! Oh - and I'm suppose to be coming back Friday, so I really only need 1 dose - would you bring 2 just in case I get stuck there for some unforeseen reason? When I made these plans, this date seemed like a good time to travel - now, I'm so ticked I have to go on this trip at all - it interferes with my meds, it is a holiday . . . so not happy about this.

I work at a restaurant in the DC airport and I have to go through security EVERYDAY to get to work. You need to pack your syringes and meds in a quart size plastic bag. When you are putting your stuff through xray-pull out the bag and put it in seperately. So the TSA can see what it is. You shouldn't have any probs as long as you do this.

Good Luck and safe travels!

I did not have any problems carrying my meds on last summer. I recommend taking as much as you think you might possibly need, so yes, I would take extra, just in case! I ended up in a very bumpy restroom doing my shot, but it was doable.

Sorry you are not looking forward to your trip. Hope it goes quickly for you.

During my last IVF cycle, I had a couple of business trips. I would just put my meds and syringes in a quart size ziplock back and send it through separately. I would also tell them that I have meds coming through... I have learned if you tell people what you have then no one will bother you. If you are concerned about the meds being xrayed you do have the right to request a special inspection but I just sent them through the xray.

I just flew last week from Burbank to Phoenix & back. I called the airline for advice. They said to be sure that your prescription drug is labeled, if not, take the label from the box just so they know it's a Rx drug in your name.

I put my Lupron, alcohol pads and syringes in the same quart sized ziploc bag, then wrapped that up next to a little ice pack in a dishtowel to keep it from getting some of my other stuff damp. When I went through security, I mentioned that I had meds with syringes and it was not an issue.

Good luck and safe travels!

I always put the syringes in the case I was checking and carried the meds with me. I figured if (worst case) my luggage got lost I could always find somewhere to buy a syringe. I was always bothered about carrying syringes (I thought I read you had to have a doctor's note?) but it sounds like most people get away with it
