My Boys have arrived!!!
Hey all, Hope you had a good New Year's. Mine was certainly the most exciting I have ever had. In my last post I think I told ya'll that we were a little concerned about our boys as one appeared on the u/s to be significantly smaller than the other. Well, we went back for another u/s on Dec. 31st and it showed that our little peanut had not really grown much since our u/s three weeks prior. Plus, his fluid looked pretty low. The Dr. said it was time to get them out. At 33 weeks, I really did not want to deliver them, but I knew it was best.
So, the Dr. imediately admitted me to the hospital so I could begin receiving steriod injections to help speed up the maturity of the babies' lungs and we scheduled my c-section for Jan. 2nd. The c-section was a little crazy. I was good and numb, but it took two Drs. getting on top of me to get Twin B out as he was breached and up near my ribs. At one point they even knocked the curtin down. But, eventually they were able to get both babies out and both came out crying, which was a huge relief to me.
Twin A, our bigger twin, now known as Harrison ("Harris") Stokes, weighed 4 lbs, 10 oz and was 18 1/4 inches long. Twin B, now known as Hayes McAdams, weighed 2 lbs 15 oz and was 16 1/2 inches. Both boys were immediatly admitted to the NICU and have been there ever since. Harris initally had to have oxygen to breath. Both boys were also jaudiced and had to be put under a light. In the 2 weeks since their birth they have made great strides. Harris was able to come off the oxygen. Their bilirubin levels are now normal and both are now off their IVs. The only real issue with either of them is learning to bottle feed and gaining weight. Harris is up to 4 lbs 14 oz and Hayes is now at 3 lbs 6 oz. They are up to 5 out of 8 bottle feeds a day (the other three feeding are done through a feeding tube). It is hard for them to gain weight when we add more bottle feedings because they burn so many calories just eating (I wish I had this problem).
According to the Dr. today, Harris may be able to come home this weekend and Hayes is expected to come home about a week to 10 days after Harris. It has been so hard to be separated from my boys, especially considering how long we have waited for these babies. I also know it will also be hard to bring one home, while the other remains in the hospital. But, I know I can't care for them like their nurses and Dr. can.
Sorry this post is so long, but wanted to let ya'll know our good news and hope that ya'll will keep our boys in your thoughts and prayers.

Re: My Boys have arrived!!!
Congratulations!!! I can't believe it took two doctors to get the baby out of you. Whoo you are a trooper. I am so happy they are making strides and I can't wait to read your post about having them both home with you.
