So ladies, I had to post a new thread becuase I had my 1st appt last night and I'm telling you...........I'm a NEW WOMAN!!!!!!!!! I have NOT felt this good in TWO YEARS!!!!!
I could literally feel the stress being released from my body during my session. My back is already feeling better for the 1st time in a MONTH!!!!! I'm TRULY looking forward to my next visits.
The acupuncturist explained to me how everything is related......the negative energy from all that my body has been through in the last few years, the physical and emotional stress. She really feels that my back pain is just being worsened by my stress. I do have some issues going on due to my scoliosis but the tense muscles are causing spasms which are really the main root of my pain. She's going to try to continue to release the tension and imflammation and create better blood flow in that general area which is turn, she feels, will really help my upcoming cycle.
I'm SOO excited and I HIGHLY recommend acupuncture to ANYONE who has not yet tried it. If for NOTHING else, the stress relief was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 cycles of clomid BFN
2 cycles of clomid + IUI BFN
Tanya, I would assume that most people would probably start sooner than I did for strictly IVF purposes. I am going primarily for back pain and was considering holding off on my cycle (i'll have ER/ET mid june) but the acupuncturist thinks she can get a few good combined treatments in before my ER which is still about 4 weeks away. I guess it depends...........
Honestly, the stress relief alone is BOUND to help my cycle..........
I see you have a consult coming up soon. I'd definitely check with your RE about someone they might recommend! GOOD LUCK!

Glad you liked it. I tell everyone to do it now when they complain about something but no one ever listens to me. They all think it's vodoo but I know it must do something. I It helped tremendously with stress relief for me too.

I am so happy to hear this!! I go every week and just LOVE it!! I'm so glad you found relief for your pain and emotional stress. It is so important to take care of that with IVF
Yay Renee!!! I'm so glad to hear that you are finally getting some relief from your back pain. I knew acupuncture would help. Isn't it just amazing how a few little needles here and there (all in the right spots, of course) could provide such relief? I was suprised after a visit when I was all stuffed up and feeling icky. She put a needle somewhere to clear out my sinuses. It cleared it out for good (for that illness)!!!
I used to fall asleep during my sessions too, Renee (the other Renee )! It was the best hour of my week. I always looked forward to it. One of the things that surprised me about acupuncture is the emotional connection to healing. My practitioners office does a thorough intake evaluation before the first treatment, and in some cases will recommend using emotional release techniques (they have a specialist on site) to enable the acupuncturist to treat his/her patient effectively. (They specifically state in their website that it is NOT psychotherapy!)
I hope these treatments continue to help you with your back and also help you achieve your well deserved !!!

I'm so happy this worked so well for you! I've been seeing my acupuncturist for 6 weeks now for IVF but my back is bad too (threw it out last year and ended up with 18 weeks of PT and still have pain. In fact I was on the empi this morning). I'll definitely have to let her treat me for back pain, but she won't do it until the cycle is done. I'm also going to see her for my acid reflux. I've been on pills most of my life for it and I'd love to see if she can do something different.
Congrats!!

Hmm...interesting. I've always been on the fence regarding acupuncture, despite hearing so many say good things. But the back pain relief and the stress relief are really swaying me...
This gives me more to think about...thanks for posting!
