Icon7 More tests results (x-post)

DH had his follow up urology appt today. They went over the results of his bloodwork.

And we may have some good news for a change.

The doctor said:

"The good news is that all of your blood work, meaning your hormone levels, came back perfectly normal. So this means that you are producing sperm it's just not getting to the semen"

So that makes us feel much better because at least we know that we will be good candidates for IVF w/ ICSI using TESE. Man alot of letters!!

The other thing he said when he looked at the S/A results from the RE is "don't stop trying to conceive on your own, while you are waiting for the IVF to come through"

He said "you do have *some* sperm and they are moving around like they are supposed to so don't quit trying"

So what do you girls think?

Here are the next steps...

We have to schedule another S/A at this one they are going to do a fructose evaluation. The urologist said this will help him determine if there is a blockage. Then after he gives the semen sample they are going to have him give a urine sample to check for retrograde ejaculation.

I think the reason that I am most excited is not because I have this hope that they will "fix" us and we'll TTC naturally but I am SOOOO excited because based on this info. we'll FOR SURE be able to have more than enough sperm for IVF through TESE.

Sorry for rambling. It just feels really great to have some positive news!

Great News -- I also deal with MF -- You'll need to do your own research and have it fit all your findings. In my own research, If there is sperm in urine or retrograde ejaculation, sperm can be collected and then used in iui. It could possibly take many samples to retrieve enough to do an iui, though. Also, there is a procedure called vasal aspiration which is sperm collection prior to the blockage, which also can be enough to use with an iui. Also, many samples from the cup can be combined to do an iui.

Of course, IVF with ICSI has better odds. However, if your self pay I wanted to throw this at you. My DH has blockage due to hernia surgery from 20 years ago. We currently can not find a urologist who performs a vasal aspiration. We are thinking positive and considering DIUI.

Best of Luck to you. Hoping your BFP is just around the corner. I agree that it sounds like you have found a dr. who truly cares about the patient and not just wallet.

We were fortunate enough to conceive my kids (including the one in the oven) using TESE&IVF/ICSI. It is a relief to find out there is help. Congrats on the news and best of luck!!

Sounds like a good plan. You might as well keep trying on your own while you waiting. It can't hurt.
