Default Looking ahead- FET with only 1 frozen blast?

Okay, silly, I know... Here I am crossing my fingers that this pg sticks around and I can't help but think about my little blast in the freezer!

My question is...

Is there any chance if you are starting with only one blast? I think our thaw survival rate at our clinic is about 60% or so... but are blasts harder/easier to thaw?

Do you know anyone who thawed out only one and made it to transfer, much less had it work?

Thanks!!!
Holly

Holly,
You're not crazy. You are just doing the mental gymnastics we all do because we second guess EVERYTHING.
I seem to remember someone asking your very same question a long time ago and some responses were that they transferred only one and it was a BFP. I even think some were FET's. Our resident experts, Marian and Stacie, I am sure can give you more specifics.
Here's to that frozen bean being a sibling to the little one inside you now:-)

Most certainly one embie transfers work! There are some countries where that's all you are allowed to transfer if you are under 35. And there are whole protocols where they are only trying to retrieve one or two eggs for transfer.

If your embie was a strong healthy little guy there is no reason to believe that he/she won't unthaw and grow beautifully.

I've got twins growing in there for now and one is really really behind and it is really frightening and DH and I discussed last night that next time we will only transfer one. So, I don't think you are crazy at all and I absolutely think you have a chance. You could even wind up with twins from that single transfer because it could split.

Thanks guys!

There is only one frozen, and it's from the same batch of donor embies that this little one is from. We thawed 4 this time, 2 made it through the thaw, we put in 2 and one stuck. It just seems pretty out there that one could surive thaw and make it, but I guess it can happen!

I think that it should work! I don't see why not! And ofcourse we have examples of people doing that!

It only takes one! I think you have a better chance with that one embie than a lot of women trying to get pregnant naturally.
