Default Just a curiosity question

Please, ladies, i am not trying to isault any one, it is just a curious question. I know that all of you just pray for a healthy baby but... is there a posibility of gender selection with IVF? Not that i would want to have IVF for a gender selection i am just asking.. ones again sorry if any one got offnded fy my question. btw.. i am seing my OB and a spesialist in MAy to discuss ivf. I heve went through meds but no luck. my fertility has been sliding dramatically and all though i do have 2 dd's in my heart i feel that i have much more love to give. my first dd was conseived no problems, second after 9 months of trying anc a combination of meds, one litle bean lost when i got PG imediatelly after dd#2 ( there was just a sack and a mass of undetermined sells on us and after that it was over ) i am ttc # 3first with meds, then combo of meds, then took a break now waiting for a may appointment,.. i am alo not good at charting. but yhid is just a litle background on me so you dont think that i am just lurking and posting comment. I would like to know what to expect out of my appointment and on a road ahead. i am terible at charting, i chart by the bad side, loose data, make tons of mistakes and so on total scater brain. name is Marina

Hi Marina- yes you can do gender selection through IVF. I have 2 dds and when I went back to my RE to TTC #3 he asked if we wanted to go for a boy. They spin the sperm prior to fertilisation I think. Not sure how accurate it is. We chose not to. Good luck with IVF.

You can also do PGD, or preimplantation genetic diagnosis. Definitely talk to your RE on this one.

suposebly there are 2 problems for us one being me not produsing quality yeggs and another is DH count was low. My regular OB is such a grate woman! all though allot of time was wasted on one hand,on another, she has done and tested for anithing that she could without throwing out a red flag for the insurance company. my file is really thick and all this will be reviewed at the May appointment. DH is kinda shy about it though so i still have time to genly convine him that there is nothing to be embaressed of, and that it is ok to ask for help.

There are two ways to do "gender selection" but not all doctors will do it. They can either spin the sperm, and that has a pretty high success rate (they can even do that for IUI). OR they can fertilize the eggs, then do PGD to determine which are male and which are female.
