Default Initial Consultation - questions

I thought my wait just to get a consult would be much longer but I called this morning and have three scheduled. If you are in the DFW area, please feel free to post your experiences/opinions on the RE's.

Dr. Haas/Dr. Le on May 1 (Las Colinas)

Dr. Douglas James on May 5 (Plano)

Dr. Brian Barnett on June 18 (Plano)

Should I go to each appointment and decide who I fit best with?

Does my husband have to go? The first two are pretty short notice for him to take off from work.

Are there any "red flags" I should look for when at the consultation?

Thank you ladies! I look forward to being able to decipher all the accronyms on your signatures reall soon!

Personally -- yes, if the consult fee is not a problem - I would go to all three. (my consults ran 200-300 each)

Yes, I would have DH go too. But now technically no - the only thing DH's need to do is provide sperm, emotional support and possibly give you shots.

I would look at CDC stats - ask questions about the embriologiest (i can't spell) (if this person is no good than well your chances go way down) One of the things I did was see how many papers the embrio person wrote. Also try to familiar yourself with the whole procedure.

Do you want to do a 3 or 5 day transfer -- does the RE provide both.

Do they freeze?

What to they say there stats are?

What are the fees? What preliminary tests do they require? Is the clinic shut down at all?

Hope this gets you started.

with Justine that it is good to actually go to more than one consult. There is bound to be something that one or the other forgot to cover and you will learn a lot more.

There are a ton of technical questions you could ask but I'd urge you to also pay a lot of attention to your instincts while you are there...

I look forward to hearing about how your appts go!
