This is a discussion on How much for a pregnancy these days? within the Invitrofertilization (IVF) forums, part of the Trying to Conceive - Infertility category; I hate to ask because money can be such a sensitive subject. However my relatives and hubby have been asking ...
I hate to ask because money can be such a sensitive subject. However my relatives and hubby have been asking and I haven't a clue. How much did you pay for your IVF treatments?
I have some nice relatives, we asked for money for christmas and we have 1.5 IUIs paid for from their generosity!
IVF on the other hand, we may need loans or something..... darned insurance!

July & August- taking cycle off, I'm broke! Babies cost too much!
I recently paid $9k which included ICSI. Meds cost me another $1300, which is kind of low as my RE's office gave me some (I think it would have been around $2k without the donation). I put in on interest free credit card for about a year and will pay off as I can. Good luck!
My REs office currently charges 8900.oo not including meds, which can range to around 3k.
Yeah DAMN insurance!!!
There are places that you can get meds cheaper once you know what you would be taking. ANd it never hurts to ask your RE for any meds that were donated by patients.
Hi, Missy. The prices vary by location. My RE charges $12,000 per IVF, but has a flat fee/full refund program that is $20,000 for up to 6 tries ($22,500 if it is IVF w/ ICSI).
There is a national loan program (I think it is Capital Care?), and there are some free med programs as well. I hope you get pregnant with IUI, and don't need to move on to IVF!
Our first and only IVF with ICSI cycle was 10,000 plus meds which were another 3,000 or so.. so about 13,000out of pocket. We took out a loan (capitol one) to finance it. Interest rate can be pretty low. We chose to pay 2,000 a month and then put a lot from a bonus we got towards it.. and paid it off in about 4 months..
My RE's office charges 5500 and an extra 500 for u/s and monitoring (whihc may or may not be picked up by insurance). They had a financing plan as well and discounted successive cycles 4500 for the second and 3500 for 3,4,5... Meds avg about 3,000 a cycle or so that's what the website said. Also they had grants available for those without coverage.
My dr's office gave me a price schedule that showed a single cycle IVF package for $9715 which included office visits, blood draws, estradiol testing, u/s (pre-ER), ER, embryo handling, ET and two beta tests. An FET ran $4100, then there were additional charges like the anesthesia for the ER, assisted hatching, etc... I believe ICSI is included in the IVF pkg. Their price schedule also showed the meds ranging from $1000-7000 (dependent upon the protocol prescribed). HTH.

I don't know how you ladies can afford to do more than 1 IVF!
If we end up having to go that route I'm pretty sure it'll be a one shot deal.
I just keep praying and counting my blessings until then!
Thanks for the info

My RE charges $12,500 and that includes approx. $3k for meds. We had half ICSI and they didn't charge for that or for the Assisted Hatching. Found out we don't need ICSI again so that's a good thing. I was fortunate last year and did my three IUIs with Clomid as part of a drug study trial, so that was all completely free. Then, for IVF #1 we had insurance and I think we paid approx. $1,800 OOP. As of midnight January 1st though I go on DH's insurance and they don't cover IF treatments - they cover the tests to find out if you have IF but don't cover anything to fix it!
There was another study for IVF starting in January, and it would have cost just the meds, but the study will not allow AH and at 38 years old I have to have AH, so no luck there. We are blessed though, at Christmas DH's parents offered to pay for one fresh IVF round in 2008 DMIL really wants grandchildren! My RE charges about $3,500 for FET so if we end up doing that we'll save up for it. Children are expensive enough, starting out paying so much to get them is no fun.

Hey Missymonkey we were quoted a price of 13,100, for everything except meds, but my MIL has other loans w/ Cap One, so she financed for us so we get a good rate, and our RE has discounted prices for any additional cycles, I think addl cycles maybe $2 or $3K, but don't quote me on that price. Our insurance is covering all the labs, u/s and the meds. Our insurance wouldve paid up $5000 for artificial insemnation, but my tubes aren't intact, so we had to go w/ IVF.
Missy - many REs have a shared risk refund program. My RE offers such a program, and it is about the cost of 2 IVFs, and for that flat rate, you can have up to 6 cys. If you do not end up with a live birth after 6 cys, you get 100% of your money back. So . . . . for us, that is probably how we will be able to pay for multiple cys - we are currently planning to do the shared risk.
