Default High responder protocol?

So, I just got the go ahead to start bcps for IVF tomorrow ! The nurse said I'm on a high responder protocol, which includes 20 units lupron the entire cycle (apparently, I'm not dropping down to a lower level of lupron), 150 Follistim, and 37.5 Luveris. Anyone heard of this/have experience with this? Thanks . . . just trying to figure out what it all means.

I am curious. Have you produced crazy number of eggs before? I am sure some other girls with experience with this can give you more info on the protocol.
Either way, GOOD LUCK!

I was a good responder for all my cycles. I don't remember what my Lupron dose was but I know that it did not change or drop at all. I think I was at 10 with Lupron. Follistim at 150 was too much for me, I always started at 108 of Follistim and then dropped to 100 or sometimes lower depending on the cycle. I took menopur and not the drug you are taking. For that I was at 75 and dropped if needed depending on the cycle. I too would be curious if you have responded well in the past. I did 2 IUI cycles with Follistim and started at 150 and produced so many eggs. That is why when we went to IVF my RE didn't give me high doses. Good luck with your cycle.

I've only done 2 IUIs with injectibles, and each time, we only had 2-4 ready at trigger. I've never been higher than 112.5 units of Follistim. I have usually somewhere between 33-43 antral follicles at the start of every cycle on CD 3, and then I often have 10-12 on each ovary in the running, but I haven't had too many actually ready at trigger time. My last injects cy, I did 3 days at 91 Follistim, then they dropped me to 66 for 3 days (which killed off a bunch of the follicles), then 2 days at 112 and I triggered with 2 follicles that were mature (there were probably still another 8 or 10 that were only around 12 mm). So . . . I'm not sure if that is a crazy response?

I think you will do well. I did 20 units of Lupron the whole time too on my last cycle, mine didn't drop down to half way like a lot of people's did, and I still had 20 eggs retrieved. I wasn't on luveris though, but did low dose HCG instead. This time because I am doing a study I will be doing Luveris, I think they work in basically the same way.

Thanks, Gin - that makes me feel better - I just hadn't heard anyone on that high a dose lupron throughout, and was worried. When is your next IVF?

It sounds like you respond wonderfully. I was lucky to get four when I cycled. Your protocol makes sense.

Best wishes for much success!

Prior to my first ANTRAL FOLLICLE COUNT my RE had me estimated doing 225ui of follistim, after the AFC he downed me to 150ui and I stimmed very well. I stood on 10ui of Lupron the whole time. Sounds like you are well on your way!

My next IVF cycle should be fairly soon. I am waiting for AF, then I start b/c pills, and then after about two weeks I will be on to lupron. From there it should be pretty much the same as before.
My RE thinks my last cycle failed due to chrom. abnormalities, I really hope that doesn't happen this time...

Well, it looks like we will be IVF buddies then . . . I'm on bcps 1 extra week, so if AF arrives for you in the next few days, we'll be on the same schedule. GL - I think this will be your cy!
