Follistim volume

I start my Follistim today! Gosh, I cannot believe it is already here! I am looking at possible trigger on 9th.

I have one concern though ( we always have to find soemthing don't we?).....I have been instructed to take 225 units of Follistim this time around. Last time I injected only 100 units. But I had a long stim cycle as a result, almost 13-14 days.

Has anyone had a similar experience where their first cycle was low dose, but that was increased in subsequent cycles?
Also any side effects of taking so much Follsitim?

I really am lurking to find out what is going on with everyone, esp Denise. Any news?

I was on a high dose my first cycle so I can't help, but I'm sure one of our ladies will chime in and have a similar experience..just wanted to wish you LOTS of luck!!! Feel free to update us on the endo board too if you have time

Hi,
If I remember correctly, they have upped my dose to get a better response. In fact, I wanted it upped more and they wouldn't so I kind of just gave myself a little extra each time (I am a bad patient, I know...) My point is that there were no side affects for me even on a higher dose. I say more Follistim means more eggies so if your RE thinks it is good, go for it.

I also have one more question. I read here that some ladies are using other meds like luveris, ganirelix etc. Are they a susbstitute for Lupron? Compared to others, I seem to have a simple protocol - Lupron and Follistim till I get the trigger shot.

Do the other drugs help in any particular way? Thoughts?

I don't know about the other drugs you mentioned. For my fresh cycles I always did Follistim and Lupron. I am sure other girls can gove you more info:-)

I was on 300u of follistim this cycle and 3 vials of Menopur. I didn't have any side effects accpet for some minor burning with the Menopur and mild headaches. I was given Ganirelix the last 4 days of stimming to keep me from ovulating. HTH

Hey Meenu,

Similar to Cindy, I did 250 units of Follistim and 2 vials of Menopur for 9 days. I want to say I did another shot to hold off ovulation but can you believe I cant remember what it was now!??!!? Is that nuts.......it was only a month ago.....barely!! No No wait......it was the Lupron - thats what I kept doing, a smaller dose of that once I started stims to keep me surpressed. (Sheesh, how quickly we forget!!)
