Default Finallyamommy

I was just wondering how the fluid ultrasound (FUS) went? I read that you mentioned it in another post and was curious to know what the procedure was and the results. I have unexplained infertility and every test they have done comes back "perfect." I have never heard of this FUS, but be sure I'll ask my RE at my next appointment.

Melissa, I am going in this morning! I have an 8:30am appt (PDT) - I'll try to post this afternoon and let you know how it went. I have no idea what to expect, so I'm sure I'm in for a treat, LOL. As long as its nothing like an HSG I'll be fine.

Lynn, I had a saline US. sounds like a fluid US. It was no pain at all. A bit uncomfortable when they put the cold steel thing to open you up, but alright otherwise. I did not even have any bleeding or fluid leakage.

Goodluck and I hope they find everything in ship shape.

Okay, I'm back. It wasn't bad. Meenu was right, it wasn't any big deal. The only discomfort was when they inserted the cather to inject the saline solution. I had mild cramping from that, and it was gone within 30 min.

They found nothing, so hopefully that means that nothing will get in the way of implantation! The dr told me my ovaries are still looking good... that I have the ovaries of a 20-year old, LOL. Aw shucks, Doc. I bet he says that to all his patients,

I'm really beginning to think that my issue is just old age related egg quality. Doesn't make it any easier to take when the m/c's happen or the IVF's don't take, but I just try to remind myself how blessed I am to have my DD...

Lynn,
I'm so glad everything went well. So it sounds a bit like the HSG except they injected saline instead of a dye? Why did your RE recommend that you have it?

It was a lot less excruciating than my HSG (did anyone else have a really painful HSG experience or was I just lucky?). My RE recommended the FUS to ensure that there was nothing to impede implantation. Usually the walls of the uterus are close together, which makes it difficult to detect if there are any growths or anything. The saline forces the walls apart so they can take a good look at the walls with a vaginal u/s.

I go in tomorrow for my baseline u/s and bloodwork!
