FET questions

We plan to complete a FET in August and have some questions...

When do the meds begin?

What meds do you take?

How many do they suggest thawing?

How many are suggested to be transferred?

How many US do you have?

How many blood draws?

ANY help would be wonderful!!!!!!

I think a lot of your questions are going to be answered by me by "that depends." Sorry!

When do the meds begin? That depends on what protocol your doctor puts you on. You could start lupron on day 21 or later???

What meds do you take? That depends. I took a lot of estrogen. Sometimes you do BCPs first and then lupron and then Estrace pills either orally and/or vaginally. Sometimes some people don't. Some cycles I took the delestrogen shots and the estrace. Some people do the estrogen patches.

How many do they suggest thawing? That depends on a lot of things. Grade, day frozen, your age, quality at time of freezing, how many you have to thaw, etc...

How many are suggested to be transferred? That depends. Age, quality, etc., all factor into how many transferred. For example, my first FET we were still only transferring two. By my sixth FET we transferred five.

How many US do you have? That depends on your RE. They all vary by what they think you need.

How many blood draws?

ANY help would be wonderful!!!!!! Sorry I'm not much help!

You'll be great though. FET is way big easier than stimming. Still alot of stress and hormones involved, but they are pretty successful these days. My FET was my only successful cycle.

During my IVF cycles I took BCP's but no Lupron...

I did not take any form of estrogen...

I took BCP's, Menopur, Follistim, Ganerelix, And after the retreival I started PIO.

Hum...I wonder what the FET will consist of.

Did anyone out there cycle similiar to me?

Hey Tanya!

My FET was MUCH less stressful than my fresh cycles. WAY less shots and hardly any monitoring. As a matter of fact, it was odd for me, i kept getting this panicy feeling that I was missing something. i think many ppl mentioned the same thing. You get used to that 'strict' fresh cycle and this is a PIECE OF CAKE!

I just pulled out my FET schedule, see below:

3/6 BCP (which was mid cycle for me)
3/21 Start Lupron 20 units for 11 days (3/21 - 3/31)
3/31 Return to Office for BW/US (AF should show by this point, if not, you'll just be held changing doses until she shows)
4/1 Decrease Lupron to 10 units, Start Estrace one pill per day x 5 days
4/6 STOP LUPRON, Increase estrace to 2 pills x 4 days
4/10 Increase Estrace to 3 pills per day x 6 days
4/14 Return to office for BW/US - if all is well..........
4/15 Start PIO that morning, continue estrace 3 x per day
4/18 FET

Sometime between the office visit and the transfer they start to thaw the embryos. In my case, i had 6 and they thawed all of them, 4 made it and we transferred all 4.

I may have confused some of my dates but this should you an idea, atleast for one ONE FET cycle was like for me atleast..........
