Assisted hatching-What do you know?
My RE called this morning and said that of the 4 eggs that were retrieved only two were mature and they did ICSI on them and both fertilized and look good. Then the embyologist said that I should do assisted hatching because the zona is thick on one of them. My worry is that I will lose one of them due to TOO much manipulation. Success stories would be wonderful to hear about now!
You gals are the experts...what are you thoughts?

Re: Assisted hatching-What do you know?
I don't know much about AH, but I do know that only hatched embryos can implant, and sometimes, if the zona is too thick, they won't hatch. This technique was developed for exactly that situation.
The only other thing I've heard/read is that there *may* be a slightly higher rate of identical twinning when assisted hatching is used - something about the width of the cut can cause the blast to split when it "hatches" through the sliced spot.

Re: Assisted hatching-What do you know?
If the zona is too thick, it is THE answer! Good luck.
