Acupuncture
I was wondering if I should get a session of acupuncture after my ET on sunday.
I have not yet had any acupuncture done so far, so do you thing that doing one after ET will help or do we need to have multiple session before and during the cycle to see any benefit out of it?
Thanks.

Re: Acupuncture
My accupuncturist always recommended several sessions and not just one. I don't think it could hurt though at this point. Good luck.

Re: Acupuncture
My RE recommended at least pre- and post-transfer. I had an hour before my transfer, then an hour after my transfer the first cycle. Second cycle, I started treatments way before my meds... and found for what I was being treated for (improve my uterine lining for implantation), it did the trick (my embies on the other hand didn't). This third cycle, I started up again last week... with my transfer not scheduled until sometime around mid-April.
I agree with Mel, with new patients, my acupuncturist recommends an intake evaluation and develops a personalized treatment plan based on what your situation. The one I see actually SPECIALIZES in infertility. That might be something you'd want to consider as well.

Re: Acupuncture
It certainly couldn't hurt a thing to do a session before and after with a practitioner that specializes in infertility. Even if you haven't done the other sessions. For one thing it will help you maintain a calm, peaceful demeanor, if nothing else. I recommend it.

Re: Acupuncture
I do acupuncture. Since January actually.
Most all of the research done on acupuncture and fertility rates are based only on one session 20 or so mins before transfer and one session 20 mins or so after. I would definitely go for! It can' hurt, but it could help.

Re: Acupuncture
I had my initial eval w/ the acupuncturist today. He put me on herbs and wants DH to start on herbs too. We'll be doing this the month before our next cycle and during our next IVF. I've heard that it helps lower FSH and improve egg quality, uterun lining and implantation. I hear the herbs taste horible though YUCK I start them tomorrow.

Re: Acupuncture
I took the herbs too. When I asked my acupuncturist what it would taste like, she matter-of-factly said, "Dirt." She was right! I mixed them up with water and just chugged it down. I did/am doing acupuncture to help with my uterine lining more than anything right now. It helped last cycle as I saw the triple line that wasn't there my first cycle!

Re: Acupuncture
Can I ask what herb it is? My RE says no herbs. I've heard great things about acupuncture. My co-worker did it to regulate her cycle and help with ovulation. She was on the max dose of Clomid and conceived twins the first time around using the acupuncture she was able to eliminate meds and get a beautiful little girl.

Re: Acupuncture
The herbs I took were a mixture, aimed primarily at helping me with circulation. Not sure what she mixed up, but I do know that the person I see specializes in IF acupunture. She & her DH travel and lecture on IF/Acupuncture, so I trust her not to give me anything that would interfere with my efforts. I have heard that you do need to stay away from a lot of the common ones (ginkgo biloba, echinacea, etc.) - is that what you've heard?

Re: Acupuncture
I would also recommend it....I started the acu late in my IVF cycle, but I did find that it helped relax me more than anything. I had a session right after my transfer and a session in the 2WW. GL

The info that the RE gave me says that herbs (in general) are controversial and to especially stay away from the ones you've mentioned. I'm really curious what's in there maybe I'll google 'herbs that taste like dirt'.
