Default Introduction and Question

Hi everyone! My name is Ann and I have a 2 yr old dd and an 18 yr old son. I just found out I am pg. I am interested in a healthier diet so I though SK might have a board for this (and what do you know, they do). I'm reading a good book right now called "Ending the Food Fight". It is all about a healthy lifestyle for families. We do pretty good right now with eating healthy but we still have work to do. Right now I am trying to introduce more whole grains into our diets. I am trying to find a good oatmeal recipe for my 2 yr old. I had been giving her the Quaker instant oatmeal with 50% less sugar only to find out it has splenda in it (I never noticed this on the package) and then to find out instant oatmeal really isn't that great for you (too processed). I am a teacher so the mornings are rushed during the school year so I would love to find something I can make ahead of time and freeze or refrigerate to use during the week. I am o.k. with some natural sugar in the oatmeal to enhance taste. Does anyone have any good ideas? I'm sure I will be posting more here now that I found it.

the prepackaged oatmeal really isnt good for you, but if you buy it in the containers it doesnt have any additives, its just plain oats. if your used to the little pkgs though its a bit of a change. it doesnt take long to make it either. i put honey or real maple sugar in my oatmeal.

I did find a great recipe for a very healthy and tasty cooked oatmeal. Let me know if anyone is interested in it. I also found a good instant alternative by Kashi. It is pretty good compared to all the other instant oatmeals.
