Spending all of your time at work? That may be why you are struggling to stay slim. The International Journal of Obesity reports that one in four women gain weight at work – most likely due to lack of inactivity during the day as well as lack of time to get to the gym. But the good news is that there are easy ways to fit in some exercise during the day, even if you are working 70 hour weeks. Don’t let work get in the way of your workouts – try these tips instead.
GET UP AND GO
Even if you are elbow-deep in files and your inbox is bursting with unanswered emails, try to unchain yourself from your desk every 20 minutes throughout the day.
Stand up a stretch for a couple of minutes, or walk over to your colleague’s desk instead of emailing her. Or go a step further with a brisk walk outside or take conference calls while standing up (you will burn more calories as compared to sitting). Experts say that just 15 minutes of activity during your workday can burn about 130 calories, so take the opportunity to stay as active at the office.
