Re: Treatment for infertility
For me, before I had my son we tried on our own for 2 years. Then, I started to do charting and found out I wasn't ovulating. I never even heard of charting until I saw a book about it. We then decided to go see my dr. She decided to put me on Clomid after seeing from some bloodwork that I wasn't ovulating. I took 50 mg to begin with and I didn't ovulate (more bloodwork). She uped my dose to 100mg and I finally did ovulate but I wasn't pregnant. So, we did 100 again and no ovulation. What I didn't mention was that with each new cycle that would begin I would be in tremendous PAIN! So bad that I had to lay down for 2 days straight. Sometimes it was unbearable. I told my dr. of this, but she wasn't worried. I didn't know any better back then and so figured it was all part of the clomid. Well I took a 6 month break because I couldn't handle the stress or pain anymore. I decided to drop 30 pds and then I had 150mg on my shelf at home and figured "What the hell, I paid for it already". I took it and then put it behind me and was even a bit angry that it was so hard to concieve. Well, to my surprise...I was pregnant! I couldn't believe it and took me a while for it to sink in. After talking to my new dr. just a few days ago she was shocked that my other Dr. never did any ultrasounds to check for cysts or other problems! It's very possible that I had a cyst and the clomid was just making it grow and that's why I had so much pain. This time around I do have better hopes because my new Dr. will be monitoring me throughout all of this with bloodwork and ultrasounds and I will be getting an hcg shot this time to make sure I ovulate. So, maybe it won't take so long this time coming.
