Default Lisa, the icky boppy!

I like to fancy myself as a pretty experienced breastfeeder. I was blessed enough to do it for over 2 years. The boppy is pretty much useless. The only thing it's good for is sitting up an infant.

I've coached many of my friends through the tough times of breastfeeding and they all eventually agreed with me. For some reason the boppy is the only pillow sold at Babies R Us so it's the most popular. It gives no back support and it's hard to get the baby to stay on it. It's really hard to understand the problems until you're actually doing it.

First the top of the pillow is curved, so the infant rolls on it.
Second, there is no waste band or back pillow like The Anna or My Brest Friend. With these pillows you can clip them on first and then grab the baby and sit down. The boppy is so small and clumsy. I think it would be a disaster with twins.
Third theres a big gap in between your stomach and the pillow. The other two come right up against you.

Look at these other pillows up on their web sites and get rid of your boppy.
I loved My Brest Friend, but I hear the Anna has a twin size pillow which would be great for you.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!

I wish I had talked to you about this earlier. I wondered when I looked at it how well the babies would lay on it. It seemed small to me. But I got loads of comments from my cousins about how I HAD to have one. I bought one and ended up getting one at my shower.

When and if these babies ever come into the world (just kidding) I will look into the pillow you recommend. Thank you so much for the tip. I may be picking your brain again real soon!

Default Re: Lisa, the icky boppy!

I had 2 boppy pillows for my babies and I used them all of them time...just NOT for breastfeeding! I used them to prop them up to feed them bottles at the same time and when they couldn't sit up on their own, they sat in those to play. I attempted to use a boppy when I first tried to nurse them and it was a complete and total nightmare. The positioning was extremely awkward and I got very frustrated with it...I even called Joanne crying about it! Unfortunately, I gave up with nuring all together after 3 days, so I never invested in a better pillow.

Good luck sweetie! I can't believe that those babies are still cooking!!
