If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...
Hi Ladies...
No babies yet! I went in on Thursday to prep for induction on Friday. They placed a gel to prepare my cervix and then I was sent home. I went back into the hospital on Friday and got started on Pitocin early -- about 8:30am. I was on it all day feeling mild contractions but nothing painful. At 8:30pm they stopped my Pitocin IV and kept monitioring me for an hour until the contractions lessened and sent me home with instructions to call if something picked back up. Saturday, I went back in and started the Pitocin IV again at 8:30am. Spent the day with mild but non painful contractions and was sent home again (about 8:00). Only a very small change in my cervix... babies are not coming. So I'm taking a couple days of a break before we try it again.
I have a doctor's appt on Monday for a non stress test and an OB visit. On Tuesday, I will call the hospital and see if they have an opening for me at the birthing center and if so will go back in to have gel placed like before. On Wednesday, I will call again and if they still have an opening I will go back in for induction to begin again. They may be booked up and these days could be bumped a day, but that is the plan so far. If this doesn't work, I could be sent home again to rest up and give it another try. As long as the babies continue to look so well we can do this. The moment they look like they might be stressed, I may have to have a c-section. But right now, everything looks wonderful with them with both babies heads down and the doctors all agreeing that a vaginal delivery is still the way to go.
So we'll see what happens! DH and I still have good attitudes about all this, which really amazes the nursing staff. Haha So we are just chugging along. I'll be 39 weeks on Tuesday. I'm the first twin pregnancy my doctor's office has seen go this long. All others usually go at 34 to 36 weeks with no induction. So they are saying I'm a really good incubator! haha
Thats all for now. Hopefully next time we are in touch I'll have happy baby news.

Hey Lisa,
Once you got those embies to finally stick, they just decided they didn't want to leave! That's great that you are still incubating -- kind of like a mother hen sitting on her eggs. Keep us posted and I'm sure all will go well. Those babies are just making you wait and wait. Oh, well. Can't wait to hear the good pink and blue news!
Love,
Karen

Lisa
I can't believe you are still pregnant! I hope you have an easy labor. I can't wait to hear all the details....especially their names!
I wanted to talk to you about breastfeeding. I'm so excited to hear you're going to give it a go. I breastfed Siena for 2 years and 2 weeks. I had no idea I was going to be so committed to it. It really is wonderful. Be patient because the first month can be miserable! This is something nobody tells you! The good news is, if you stick with it, it's so much easier that formula. Although, I'm sure everything is different with twins.
I had a lot of problems getting Siena to latch on. It took about 3 weeks. I was so exhausted, I would cry because I was feeling so rejected. I also was worried that she wasn't getting enough to eat. After working with several lactation consultants we finally figured it out. I got rid of the Boppy and bought My Brest Friend...yes that's how it's spelled. It made everything so much easier. For twins I hear the Anna Pillow is great. It's wider and designed for twin nursing. They sell both online.
I wish you luck!

Re: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...
Aww hon, I feel your pain! When I had Keegan, I went in Friday night at 8 to be induced, had pitocin and some moderate contractions all night, and by 1pm on Saturday, still nothing so I asked to go home. As soon as they stopped the pitocin, the contractions stopped. Little stinker. I finally started labor on my own with him 2 days later (Monday night at 6) and he was born Tuesday night at 9:30. By C-section, after all that!
Not that this will be your case at all! Hopefully with everything they've done so far, you will start to go on your own in the next day or so, and they will be here before you know it!
Hugs and good luck!
Sue

Re: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...
Hi Ladies,
I'm doing well.... sure, a bit uncomfortable, but not complaining. I'm still enjoying their movements and kicks. But hoping they decide to come soon. I'd love it if things went on its own. I'm still getting mild contractions, but still nothing note worthy. We are hoping Wednesday's induction does the trick. But I wouldn't be surprised to be sent home again. We'll soon see. Haha We should start a betting pool!
Joanne, thanks for the words on breastfeeding. I'm really hoping the kiddos catch on quickly and that I can keep up with them. Just curious why you had to get rid of the boppy?

Hi Lisa,
Hopefully by the time you read this, the babies will be here. They sure must be happy where they are for now if the pitocin didn't work twice now. My water broke with Amelia but then no labor so that is why I was induced. It took about 12 hours for her to be born after they started the IV.
I will be thinking happy baby thoughts for you tomorrow.
