Hey Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I thought I would start another post since the other one was getting so long. The little girl dressed as a chicken sounds so cute. That is such a fun age when they are about 18 months old. I really enjoy going trick or treating and seeing all the kids in costume. We live out just far enough that we don't get any kids at our house so we go all go into town together.
Brian is in Ohio tonight so I thought I would get on here for a while. He is there to repair an airplane. He has been travelling a little more lately for his job. He will be going to Nashville in a few weeks to get his next rating. He will be an AI and will beable to sign off work done by others. He has been an A & P for 3 years now. He is looking forward to this next rating since only the owner and one other guy can do the sign offs right now.
I am glad you are making progress on the babies room. It seems like remodeling/painting projects take longer than we first think they will. Are you going to have carpet installed or is your flooring fine the way it is? We need to paint and recarpet our bedroom sometime in the next few years. It is getting pretty old now. The kids rooms are in pretty good shape for now.
Talk to you later. I can't get on at work because we don't have any privacy( 3 desks right next to each other with me in the middle) and are told we can't use the internet for personal use so I don't want to get into trouble.

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Bilinda,
I understand about work. Luckily my employers don't seem to mind very much... especially since things have slowed down and we'll be shutting our doors soon. So I have more time than I'd really care to admit to be online during the day. By the time I get home I've pretty much had it with surfing and enjoy family time more.
As for the babies' room, the carpeting in there is just fine. Like brand new still. The house was only a year old when we moved in and it was only used by the builder for a couple months before selling to us. We used the room as a guest room/study - but it didn't get much use... so very little wear and tear on the carpet in the last 7 years. So that is one less thing we'll have to worry about.
Sounds like your DH is a busy guy. Like my hubby. Mark recently went through some testing himself and is now cleared for some type of technician inspections.... shame on me for not being able to remember the specifics.
Well, I got some very good news today. I checked my email and I got a confirmation that my cribs have begun being shipped UPS Ground today. I've got my tracking number and will be following it closely. I didn't know they were shipping from WA, so it may take a little while to reach VT. Hope those cribs make it in one piece after everything else we've dealt with about them.
Well, I'd better get going. Glad you started a new thread. I was thinking about doing the same thing.
Any plans for this weekend? Anything with the horses?

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Sounds like our guys do pretty similar things at work. Brian has always liked airplanes, flying them and now working on them. Did I tell you he has built two airplanes of his own. The last one took 7 years, Ugh. In was in our basement for about 6 years. Finally it was done about a year ago and now we have a gameroom with a pool table instead. I think we are having Christmas at our house this year for his side so it will get some good use then.
Brian's project for this winter is to restore a 1947 Allis Chalmers tractor. I might have told you that already. I am going with him to a tractor meeting tonight. Sounds kinda funny doesn't it. The things we do for love! We are going to dinner just the two of us before hand so that will be nice. They are having a bake sale tonight so maybe I will get some brownies. I love chocolate, how about you?
What are you doing this weekend? I would love to ride the horses but it i still pretty muddy from the rain we got all week. Brian is getting lumber and steel siding right now to enclose part of the over hang on the back of the barn so it will be warmer for the horses this winter. Tomorrow is supposed to be windy and colder.

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Bilinda!
Did you end up getting those brownies? Mmmmm, I could go for that right now. I'm a chocoholic!
I'm looking out the window as I'm typing and I'm seeing some nasty little white flakes coming down. That can't be... I must be dreaming... having a nightmare. Nope, I just pinched myself. I'm awake. Its spitting snow. Grrrr Like it or not, winter is coming.
Mark had drill this weekend, so I didn't see much of him. I spent the weekend puttering around the house. A little cleaning, a little bill paying and call me crazy, but I cooked a turkey. I just felt like it. Yes, I know Thanksgiving is only a couple weeks away, but I couldn't help myself. LOL Also, got the wallpaper border up and I'm very happy with it! I've never done wallpaper before, but it wasn't bad at all. I can't believe how great my first attempt went. So the nursery is all painted and the border is up.... just waiting for the cribs to arrive so I can start putting things together. I can't wait!
Well, mark it on your calendar... as of yesterday I just received my 60 day notice at work. My end date is Jan 7th and then I'm laid off again. I knew the day was coming so it wasn't as bad as it sounds but it still stinks to think I'll be unemployed again. Its hard to care too overly much right now as all my thoughts are consumed by the twins' arrival. When money starts being an issue is when I'll be caring again! Something will pan out somewhere. I have faith. If only I could find something to do at home.
My worry right now is losing my severance if I have to be pulled out of work before Jan 7th. HR is looking into that for me. If they will give me maternity leave up to the time of my departure date without it affecting my severance, I may just have my doctor write me up something to get out before Christmas. Cross your fingers for me.
This weekend Mark and I have an Infant CPR class to take. Its a 5 hour class. Then I'm hoping to start some Christmas shopping this weekend as well. I've got to get on that as most of the people I buy for are out of town and therefore, I will have to ship out presents.
Well, I better get going. For some reason, I've been a little busier at work today. Someone just handed me another small project to do.
Talk to you later.... Take care!

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Well I didn't get any brownies. We went to the meeting location and nobody came. DH called one of the guys and it ended up we had the wrong night. What a shame. So we just ended up going home because what DH ate for dinner was making him feel he made but they weren't chocolate. We have a nice coffee shop in our little village that is right around the corner from where I drop the girls for daycare. They have great Cafe Mochas so I got one of those on Monday.
Sorry to hear you got your notice at work. I know you were hoping to work there longer than you have. I hope it all works out with the maternity leave and you getting your severence pay. Enjoy you time off with the babies and then maybe think about working part-time when you are ready to go back to work. Just a suggestion of course. I just loved working part-time and did that for 7 years while the girls were babies. I wish I could still do it but our present management doesn't allow it anymore. I don't know why, our parent company out of New York allows part-time.
It is sunny here today but cold. It is about 45 degrees. Haven't seen any snow yet even though it had been in the forcast. We were going to take the horses out this afternoon, after soccer, but now Brian has to go into work for a while later in the day and he is leaving for Nashville tomorrow for his AI class. Lindy has indoor soccer at 2pm.
I sure hope you have time to write to me after the babies come. I want to hear all about them. Maybe when they are napping you can get on the computer. I had lunch at the mall yesterday (close to work) and a mom in line had sleeping twin boys in a twin stroller. They were so cute. I was happy for her that she was going to get a quiet lunch. One of the little boys was missing a shoe but she had it in her bag.
Have a great weekend and I hope you get some Christmas shopping done. Amelia and I are going to the Mall in a little while to see if we can get started. I also have to send gifts out of state so I need to get going on this.

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Bilinda,
Well, it was another one of "those" weekends. I didn't get any Christmas shopping in. We had our child/infant cpr class on Saturday and I'm happy to say we are both certified for a year. I only hope I can remember everything we learned should we have to use it.
My father-in-law suffered a small stroke last week and is in the hospital in rehab. He has a long road ahead of him, I fear. The stroke affected his speech and the right side of his body. He knows what he wants to say and desperately tries to get it out, but gets very frustrated. He has to really concentrate to use his leg and arm. They have him pretty tired out with all the testing and therapy. But he is a strong willed and determined individual and may lick it in the end. What is a shame is that he was just newly elected back into the legislature. He had a tough campaigne and won. Now, unfortunately, he will need to be replaced. He is very upset about that as he loves his work in the legislature. DH is very upset right now. He has always seen his dad as a strong and self-sufficient man. Seeing him like this has really shaken him up. But I really think his dad is doing great and will continue to do so as long as his attitude stays good. And his wife will see to that.
I heard from my mom this weekend. She has made flight arrangements (lives in FL for the winter) to be with me from Jan 5th to the 30th to help out with the babies. Let's see if they cooperate with her schedule.
Don't worry... after the babies are born, I will make time as soon as I can to write you and fill you in. I can't believe how little time is left before they will arrive. It seems surreal.
Well, I'd better run. Take care and I'll talk to you soon!

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Lisa,
How is your father in law doing? It is so hard seeing things like this happen. My Grandma had a stroke a few months before Brian and I got married (25 years ago) and made a complete recovery so hopefully your father in law will too! My husband's brother had by pass surgery yesterday and I was expecting to hear from my mother in law this evening on how he is doing today. He had all 5 done and he is only 54. They just had their first grandchild a few months ago and were hoping to be here for Christmas. He worked for the same company that I do but lost his job about 3 years ago. Now they live in South Carolina.
It has been misty and gloomy here. Right now we have fog. Been extra busy since Brian is at his training. The girls and I have to feed the horses before we leave for daycare in the morning and then when we get home. I am glad we only have 3 horses.
Well not much else is new. I had lunch with a friend that I worked with for about 15 years. She had her second baby about 16 months ago and quit her job and now stays home. She had IF problems like us but has 2 kids now.

Re: Hey Lisa
Hi Bilinda,
My father-in-law is doing ok. Thanks for asking. He is being pushed quite a bit at the rehab center and is making some progress. But its going to be a long haul. He has the determination and drive, so I have every confidence that he will have a good outcome. His mental abilities are still sharp its just a matter of the brain making new pathways I suppose so that he can communicate as he used to. Same with his limbs. It will be a slow process, but I really feel confident in him. Mark is still pretty shaken, but he is beginning to come around. He is still grieving the loss of the man he used to know as his father. But I keep reminding him that his dad is still with us and can communicate and eventually will get some of his momentum back with a lot of hard work. Its hard for me to see Mark so broken up like this. I lost my own father to something years ago and Mark was there for me and we both realize now what the other had gone through and is going through. Its quite a time.
Mark has this Friday off and will be making the trip to go visit his father again. I think it will do him good. I would go too, but I have to work and have a doctors appt. Plus the travel the last time bothered me a bit. Its about a 2 hr drive from where we live and I was getting some cramping last time. I was fine when I got out of the vehicle and walked around, but during the bumpy drive I was uncomfortable. My docs warned me against travel now and I think I will heed their warning.
How is your brother-in-law doing? My father went through a quadruple bypass and did very well. That was a very long time ago... getting close to 20 years ago now. He licked the heart condition, its cancer that got him in the end. Its amazing what the doctors can do for heart patients now days. The hardest part for us as I remember was after the surgery, seeing dad hooked up to all those machines in ICU, unconscious still and very very cold and pale. Of course, that was very soon after the surgery. Afterwards, as I said, he did very well. Responded well and felt very much better. He was about 56 at the time.
Its misty and overcast here as well. Doesn't do much for the moral, does it? DH and I are hoping to get out this weekend and do a little Christmas shopping. That'll help my spirits if I make some headway!
Got good news.... looks like my second crib has finally been shipped from the warehouse. I'm hoping to receive it early next week. Then maybe I can start putting the nursery together. Still waiting on delivery of my curtain though. That is still slated for Dec 6th. Everyone wants to see pictures of the nursery, but I don't want to do that while its still a work in progress. I'm just as eager as family and friends to see the finished project. Its been years that I've been dreaming of this. I can't believe its finally in the works and there will actually be babies in that room. A dream come true. I thank the good Lord!
Well, I should be going.... hope you have a great weekend if I don't hear from you before.
