We had our follow up consult post failed frozen IVF last night. We were in there over an hour and the RE got into detail about what is going to happen next. He explained, once again, that after our failed IUIs he wanted to examine my eggs with my hubby's sperm to see interaction and if the embryos were good and so on. Doing this was to result in questions he wanted answered about my egg and quality as well as the reaction to the sperm and the resulting embryo quality which has a huge impact on fertility (obviously!). IVF was the way to go in order to get answers. He got the answers he needed and we even got a BFP out of it. Sadly, it ended at 6.5 weeks, but that resulted in them finding out that I have antibody issues. Although I do not ovulate on my own due to hormonal issues, when stimulated, I produce eggs of good quality. He feels that it is best to do a laparoscopy now to see if I have internal issues that cause complications for less evasive attempts, such as IUI. Basically, the HSG only showed that my tubes are clear and that I don't have any structural problems. What it doesn't show is if my tubes are good and if my eggs are even "picked up" post ovulation and carried into the tubes. There may be scar tissue and other problems internally which he wants to explore so that he can see if IVF is our only option or not. The way he put it is that IVF is really treatment for tubal problems. If tubes and such function as they should, IVF isn't the only option - he just wants to be sure. So, we'll do a Lap in January to see where we stand. He says that whatever they find that they can fix (scar tissue and endo which can be lasered and such), they will fix. Also, while he's in there, he'll do a form of ZIFT but the embies will be 2 days old as opposed to a standard ZIFT one day. He will only do this if my tubes are healthy and don't have issues. He'd put 2 embabies in each tube. If one tube is good and the other is bad, he'll put 2 in the good tube and then 2 in as a standard IVF. Since today is day 46 of my frozen IVF cycle that didn't produce a normal

after the strange bleed (due to my hormones crashing), they did blood work. My Estrogen and Progesterone were drawn as well as a BETA (which is redundant!) just to be sure. I'll probably be on BCPs soon and we're looking at starting the new year off with quite a bang! I'll be stimulated the same as a standard IVF and will have the ER when it's best. I'll then recover for a day. The day after that, I'll have the Lap and if all is well, the Tubal Embryo Transfer (TET) will be done during the procedure. He said that he's doing the TET because if he has to perform surgery on me, he wants me to have the opportunity to have a pregnancy as a result. I don't have a problem with that

! Also, because the embryos will enter the uterus as nature intended (through the tubes), it improves the chance for this to work. He also had stressed that we will be at a high risk for multiples, which we already have come to grips with throughout our fertility journey. We're looking forward to the procedure and starting off the new year on the right foot.
Here's a little info on TET:
