Icon1 Great info on Soy!!

I wanted to share this because soy works like Clomid.
Tons of women on the FF board are getting BFP's the FIRST time they try it!

Here it is-

Soy Isoflavones are a natural plant derived photoestrogen, which is an anti-estrogen, just like clomid. Both are also known as SERMs (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators). It works by fooling your body into thinking that its estrogen levels are low. This causes your body to release more FSH & LH, which help to stimulate follicle production (same as clomid). You take it like clomid on CD 3-7 or 5-9. Most women are O'ing an average of 5-10 days after the last dose. Some women are taking it CD 1-5 in order to produce an earlier O. It will not cause infertility if only taken for 5 days at a time prior to O.
There is no evidence to suggest that Soy will produce multiple births. Some evidence suggests that taking Soy earlier in the cycle with produce multiple follicles, while taking it later in the cycle will produce a single more mature follicle.
There is not much documented information available on it, because it is "natural", not patented by the pharmaceutical companies, and not FDA approved. Most doctors will also not recommend it for this reason. Those of us trying it are going off of our own experiences. Most have not experienced any side effects. The reccommended dosage is 160-200 mg a day. You can purchase it at Walmart. The Spring Valley brand is in 40mg tablets and costs about $6.
Many women have gotten BFP's on it & some have had annovulatory cycles

It's worth a shot!

I'm thinking of trying it myself!

Hmmmm.... that's an interesting tidbit that you posted. Who knew that soy reacted the way clomid does? Thanks for the info.
