I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing? We haven't heard from you in awhile.

What's the next step? I have my first appointment at the RE next week. Hopefully we'll be pregnant together.....just thinking positive!

Awe, thanks Joanne! We saw the RE for our consult yesterday afternoon!

Okay, here goes............ First, my RE commented that it looked like we'd gotten some sun (we went on vacation early March) and said that was a good thing because we haven't had the easiest journey with all this TTC stuff. Then, he went over all of my pics from the Lap (and gave me copies) and I got to see the adhesions that were all over my tubes and whatnot. Because of the adhesaions/tissue, my tubes were pinned to the pelvic wall and therefore most likely wouldn't pick up the eggs when I'd ovulate on medicated cycles (I don't O on my own). He drew the diagrams he usually does, explained what the deal is/was and said that we can decide to do meds to make me ovulate and go on our own, do IUIs or do IVF. Now, I liked that IVF put less stress on my hubby and I because it's out of our hands, but I think that we should try to do IUIs for a while to give my ovaries a rest. That way, instead of growing an army, I can grow a handful. He asked where I am in my cycle and I told him that I was in the upper 40s in days and he said that he would put me on prometrium in order to induce a flow. Now, here's where I fessed up - I began taking prometrium last week! I'm bad, I know, but I knew that's what he'd do and I wanted to get the show on the road already! He laughed and said that I've been paying attention and he knows that I've read up alot on infertility and agreed that what I did was a good thing I'm to call them on or as close to CD1 as possible, go in for a follie scan and then start stims (225 Gonal-F 1x a day) and we'll go from there. He thinks that we have a good shot at it this way. Now that he freed my tubes during surgery and knows that the eggs are good, sperm is good, they interact well and produce good embryos, it's worth a shot. This way, we can try it (he said 3-4x) and if it doesn't work, we'll be back to IVF. Because I've already used 2 of my IVFs, I'd like to see if we can make it work with IUIs now that we know we can.

I was worried that my embryos from IVF2 ZIFT/TET were bad and he put an end to that. I mentioned that because we didn't have any to freeze, I was trying to be rational and I figured that the chemical pregnancy and the lack of freezing was due to a crappy crop. He then showed us pictures and said that the 4 embryos transferred into my tubes were of high quality and it was textbook. Why it/they didn't take isn't exactly known.

All I know is that I'm happy - I'm starting again!

What a coincidence I posted the day of your RE appointment! I'm glad to hear you're back in the game. Dh and I did a big trip to Hawaii after we had a m/c a little over 3 years ago. We took a 5 month break from ttc and it really helped. It was nice to not be living by the calendar for once. Once we started trying again...two cycles later we got pregnant with our daughter.

If you get a chance, read my two threads lower on this page. I posted an updated on dh and on and ttc for #2. It's a long story, but our first appointment is next week. I'm very excited.

I can't believe you're almost 30! You're so young. I think that's good. I just turned 37 in January! Dh wanted to wait a little bit longer to ttc#2, but I'm a little concerned about my age. He's going to be 43 in May. I'm hoping they can transfer our frozen embryos in April. We'll see.

I think it's funny you started the meds on your own. That's something I would have done!

Good luck and keep me informed on your progress.

Wow Erica, you definitely have been through a rough time. I admire your positive attitude! I am excited that your adhesions are cleared up and I pray that your next IUI is your LAST IUI!

I also had major adhesions removed from my tubes and ovaries. And, like you, my tubes were also attached to my pelvic wall, causing me to have ectopic pregnancies. Once the adhesions were completely cleared up, we did get pregnant the next month with IUI...unfortunately, it ended in miscarriage due to me being APA+ that we didn't know about at the time. My RE put me on heparin for my APA and I decided to give up on IUI, moved straight to IVF and it worked the first time around.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share my story since it is very similar to yours! You WILL get pg soon...I just know it!! You will be in my thoughts and prayers!!

Good luck!!

Thanks, ladies!

Hey, Jennifer - I have to be on Heparin, too for the immunity crap. How did that work out through your pregnancy with the twins? I'm curious because I know that I'll have to be on that for the entire length of a pregnancy, so I'm wondering how you dealt with that...

I'm glad to hear that you are on heparin...not glad that you are doing shots, but glad that they have figured out that you have immune issues. The shots definitely are not fun, by any means, but I really got used to them after a while. I was on them up until 2 days before I delivered. I did have some problems towards the end because my belly was enormous and so bruised that I had to start doing them in my thighs and arms, which was a little more painful.

Joanne also did the heparin shots and she didn't have any problems whatsoever...I'm on the phone with her and she told me to tell you that!

- you are cracking me up over here! You guys are on the phone and posting! Multitaskers! Hey, I do it at my office, too! Teehee!

I think it might have been the needles that Freedom Drug sent me. Hubby is a nurse (Gaylord Focker!) and he said they weren't so good quality wise. So, he'll nab me some from work once in a while so that I'm more comfy/less bruised from them. I was hoping after the chemical one that the bruises would be gone before vacation - they were! My frozen cycle bruises took forever! They found my immunities after my first m/c last August and I'm glad they found them!

I'll do whatever it takes to get a sticky pregnancy! Thanks, ladies!!!!

Yes, we are quite the multitaskers! Only women can do that, right???

That is hilarious that you called your hubby Gaylord Focker! I'm sorry to hear about the bad needles. Hopefully your dh will be able to keep up your supply for you! That is wonderful that they tested you after 1 m/c....my first RE's were total idiots and refused to test me or even do a lap on me, they just kept telling me that I was too young (25) to have any real IF issues. I switched RE's and the first 2 things that he did were the lap and immune testing and voila!, I was preggo within 6 months of the switch.

I have everything crossed for you sweetie...heck, I'll even cross Cooper & Claire's toes for you!! I can't wait to hear your good news and follow your upcoming pregnancy!!!

Good luck!!!
