Bilinda
Hi Bilinda,
You won't believe this, but in the not so distant future, I'll be looking for employment again. The company I'm presently working for recently merged with another company. All along they said our plant was safe. Well as of 6pm last night we were all informed that our facility will be shutting down. We will slowly phase out over the next year.
I just had my "talk" with HR today. They have guarenteed me a position until the end of the year... with a possibility of into the spring. If I stay with them until my release date, they will give me 15 weeks of pay with full medical benefits. I figure this will carry me through my pregnancy. Which is a good thing because I think I'd be hard pressed to find another position in my condition. Then I get to worry about what to do after the babies are born.
How's that for an update! What a year this has been! But I'm laughing. Really. Its just too incredible not to. I know there must be a grand plan for this.
How are you doing, sweetie? Any news on that job you were going after?
Lisa

Re: Bilinda
Sorry to butt in here!! But, that is pretty crazy luck that you have Lisa!! It sounds like a blessing in disguise to me and perfect timing for the babies' arrival though!! Maybe your destiny is to stay at home with your two bundles of joy for awhile?!?! I know that after we looked at the cost of daycare for the two of them, it really didn't make much sense for me to work. Somehow we have managed to make it work and never thought we could!
Good luck to you!!
P.S. ~ How are you feeling?? How far along are you now and when is your BIG u/s??

Re: Bilinda
Hi Lisa,
I am so glad you posted to me but sorry about the upsetting news. I tried to start a new post to you yesterday but my computer told me I had performed an illegal function and the program would be shut down, so I got booted off the internet. I was running late to take the girls to the zoo so I had to go. I think Jennifer is right and your job ending will be a good thing in the end. The 15 weeks pay will be helpful and things have a way of working out. You are lucky to have some notice and can start cutting back a little if possible and maybe save some money for next year. When I went part-time I thought we would be broke but we were fine. It put us in a lower tax bracket so we got a nice refund each year and my day care expenses were less.
I haven't heard anything yet on that other job so I am getting discouraged. I saw two women that work over in that area and they said they would do some asking and see what they could fine out. I hope to hear something soon. We have to sign up for more weekends soon and I would love to skip that.
We took the horses camping overnight last weekend and had a great time. Dh and I took a 6 miles trail and DH and oldest DD took a 4 miles trail. Our youngest daughter just rode around the campground and was happy with that. The horses did really well, especially the one I ride. Only problem we had was he ate some bark off a tree during the night and was feeling sick the next day. He didn't want to eat much so we knew something was wrong so we headed home early. By evening he was feeling better and eating like a horse (lots) again. Last night we went to the county fair and looked atthe different horses there. The big draft horses are so impressive. The were competing in a weight pulling contest while we were there. There were miniture horse pulling carts around. They were really cute.
Talk to you later. Did your DH get home last weekend?

Re: Bilinda
Hi Jenn,
Hmmmm, maybe you could have something there. Maybe I am meant to stay home with my little ones. Actually, I would be more than thrilled to be able to do that. But, wow, I don't see how unless DH wants to take a part time job. And that doesn't seem fair. We have two mortgages on the house. If it weren't for that I would say no problem. I think we are going to have to sit down and really go over all our expenses. We haven't priced out daycares in our area yet, so that may be the clincher. I'm also thinking about getting into medical transcription. Our local hospital advertised for that a few months back. I mentioned it to DH and while I was at work, he called the hospital for me. Seems they aren't signing up any people for their program at this time but may start again in about 6 months. That could work out for me. I'd have the babies by then and my obligations with this company would be over. I'd no doubt just be starting unemployment after the 15 weeks they give me are over. It might work out. I hear these courses are 3 months in duration, but not quite sure about that yet. As soon as I get some time I plan on calling that guy back up to get more information.
As for how I'm feeling... I'm feeling great! The morning sickness has let up and I'm able to enjoy things more. I'm eagerly anticipating the first feelings of movement. My belly is just starting to pooch out a bit. Only I notice it. My cloths keep it hidden pretty well although one of my girlfriends says she can tell and its obvious I'm PG. I think she is just telling me what I want to hear. LOL I'm currently 14 weeks 2 days. My big U/S will be done on Sept 7th. However I have a regular OB appt on Aug 27th and will have a regular U/S done then. DH and I are eagerly awaiting the chance to find out the genders. We can't wait to get to know our little ones a little better.
Bilinda,
Sounds like you've been keeping very busy! I hope you and Jenn are right and we find out we can swing having me stay at home. Time will tell.
Its great that you have "spies" who can help you figure out what is going on with those jobs. I bet you are pulling out your hair. I can't believe they are keeping you waiting so long. I would have thought they'd get back to you by now. Can you call them and inquire to their progress just to let them know you are still interested? I'm still keeping my fingers crossed over here for you. Keep me posted.
Oh and yes, DH did get home.... On Tuesday. I took a half day off from work to meet him at the base. I eagerly milled around with the other spouses and families and when our guys were disembarked and debriefed and let go.... my gosh! What a rush of people swarming to get their first hugs in with their loved ones. I swear that was the best hug I ever had. I missed DH so much while he was away. There was a big reception for our troops and an informal party. Then it was a matter of getting him home and caught up with everything. The unfortunate part was hearing about my job that evening. My boss called me at home and appologized for having to call with that kind of news during our special time, but he figured I would want to know before hearing it somewhere else. And he was right. DH and I were pretty bummed and it took the edge off the homecomming somewhat. But we put it in perspective and made the best of things.

Re: Bilinda
Hi Lisa,
Glad to hear your DH is home now. The welcome home party sounded like fun. Is he home for good now or does he have to go somewhere again? I found out today I didn't get that job. Of course I am diappointed but they said I had interviewed well and to apply again in the future if I see another posting.
Well we bought another horse this weekend. She is actually considered a pony because of her size. She just looks like a little horse. She is about 50" at the back. She will pull a cart which DH likes and the girls can ride her until they are in their teens

Re: Bilinda
Hi Bilinda,
Congrats on the new horse! Wow, what a surprise! Sounds awesome!
DH is home for good... if anything is for good in the military. I think he mentioned that he was home for at least 20 months and then would probably have to go back out there. Of course, it could be sooner depending on the needs of our country. He could still be called away on short missions to other places than Iraq during those 20 months he mentioned. Who knows. We just take each day as it comes.
Sorry to hear about that job. But at least they said you interviewed well and to try again if anything comes open. Thats a good sign. Do you have anything else you are currently looking at?

Re: Bilinda
Hi Lisa,
We pick up the new horse on Thursday, so that will be fun. I have Thursday and Friday off since I am scheduled this weekend. Brian will take a vacation day I think. I applied for another job today so hopefully I will get a interview for that one. This would be mostly desk work and not any lab work, just helpful to have lab experience according to the posting.
I am glad your DH is home for a long time now. Does he report daily to a base here in the states? He is an aircraft mechanic or crew chief correct?
I am glad you are feeling better now that your are further along in your pregnancy. I have been meaning to post your good news on the over 40 board because some of the gals are thinking about or trying donor eggs and will be glad to hear your good news. I am so glad that is an option for couples now.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I haven't heard from you in a few days and I hope it is just because DH is home now and you are catching up on things. This board has really been slow this week.
I found out today that someone is leaving in the microbioloby area I interviewed for so hopefully I will be considered for that position. She will be leaving on Sept 3rd.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Has anyone heard from Lisa143 and how things are going with the twins?
Bilinda
