First off, I was thinking that it might be nice if we could have a sticky to have information for SK members nearby the disaster areas, who are volunteering at shelters. I know of two women from the June Jewels and one from the Debate board that are nearby the disaster areas and are volunteering at shelters. I am shipping supplies to them to bring to the shelters. If we could get everyone who wants to participate as a shelter liason up on a sticky, that way SK members can donate supplies through them. Along these lines, I just wanted to note that Amazon is offering free shipping for over $25. They have a TON of personal care items, including formula/diapers/wipes/tampons. Often their price for these items is cheaper than the stores, and with the free shipping, that makes it really easy to donate supplies. I know it can be a PITA to pack up stuff and mail it, so let Amazon do it for you
Another idea, I just wanted to alert anyone reading this to see if your employer or DH/SO employer's company makes matching monetary donations to places like the Red Cross. My DH's company will match 100%. If your company doesn't presently match donations, see if they will. Twist their arms!
This is a great way to double your money!
