Default How Are Re-located Families Coping??

I'm curious if anyone has friends or family who were relocated after Hurricane Katrina? How are they doing? Have the children adjusted to new schools, friends, etc? And what about work for parents. It seems like we got a lot of information about Hurricane Katrina when it hit and still hear about how people fought for surrvival in the city, but I haven't heard too much about people who are relocating and how they're adjusting. I actually just read a brief blog story about a school riot in Houston between kids from New Orleans and local students. Just curious if this is becoming common, if there are tensions, etc. It must be so difficult on both sides of the story.

Many of the kids are coping well in the new schools. I have heard that there are some students that are fighting in the Houston and Dallas schools.

Most families are coping. My land lady is living in TX with her children, but her husband has had to come back to New Orleans to work. You can imagine the kind of stress that puts on their relationship. They aren't the only ones. Many families are torn apart like this because of work situations.

thanks for the feed back. It must be so difficult. I can't imagine the issues and situations you would have to deal with after loosing a home, city, work, or even loved ones.
