Re: TTC and told I have fibroid
Hi & welcome,
It all depends on where it is and how big it is. I had a fairly small one that they didnt discover until I was already pregnant. it started out about 4cm & grew to about 10 cm by the time i had my son. mine was on the outside, so it didnt affect fertility & i was able to have a normal delivery (went about 1 1/2 weeks early & had contractions earlier than usual & was watched very closely by docs, but overall, no major issues). However, the fibroid stayed 10cm & when I wanted to TTC again, they highly recommended I get it out & after they removed it my doc said it was a very good thing I did, b/c it would most likely have caused major issues - if I was even able to get pg (it was pushing on my bladder, pushing my uterus over to the side, altered the shape of my cervix...) So they did a laproscopic myomectomy (4 small incisions) & removed it. I had about 3 weeks recovery & was told not to TTC until 3 months (we're starting this cycle - woohoo!) I will need a c-section but otherwise should be ok.
if yours is small and/or on the outside, you may not need to do anything. but if its inside and possibly blocking entry to your uterus, or if its very big, you may be better off removing it. I'd ask for an MRI to get a better idea of whats going on & ask to see the best specialist you can get access to to help you make a decision - Good luck & let us know what you find out!
