Lurking here. Currently preg w/#1, but looking for info on fertility after fibroid treatment as I plan on spacing closely. Have had many difficulties w/ this pregnancy & hoping to avoid in future.

Hi and Welcome!

Congrats on your pregnancy! Did you have fibroids removed prior to getting pregnant? Or are you planning to have a surgery afterwards?? Do youhave issues with fibroids during this pregnancy?

I had fibroids removed twice prior to getting pregnant with #1. I had no complications and a very text book pregnancy (both pregnancues were easy). I did have a few fibroids (tiny) while pregnant but they remained tiny and did not grow. I got pregnant with #2 with much ease and the fibroids were still tiny and not a problem. My 2 previous surgeries removed the large fibroids that were effecting my fertility. Without the surgeries I do not think my sons would be here.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks!
lol, my pregnancy has been anything but textbook! Glad yours was easy though! I suffered servere hyperemesis, and was hospitalized several times throughout this pregnancy. I have actually been diaganosed with fibroids since about age 18 ( I'm 24) but didn't have any real problems from them until pregancy. I imagine that they were probably much smaller before pregnancy, but since they were not measured until the beginning of this pregnancy, I'm not sure. But my fiboids did grow during my pregnancy, so I won't be able to deliver vaginally. However they have had no ill effects on the baby at all. He's perfect. I recently met with a radiologist who spoke to me about treatment after baby, since I at least wanna have 1 more. But I'm a little bothered by what he sugggested, embolization, as he explained that doing so may lead to infertility, or complcations. As much as I don't wanna go through another hard pregnancy, I'd rather be able to at least know that I have the ability to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term. In your opinion is it better to remove than to embolize? I'm just not sure where to go from here and know that I cannot wait to make a decision if I in fact do hope to have another baby in the future.

I am sorry your pregnancy has been hard. I am all for removal. I know that embolization is not usually suggested for women that want more children. I just woudln't take the chance myself. So I would get a second opinion for sure. I know that if I didn't have my fibroids removed I would not have my 2 sons today.

I had 2 c-sections. I had to due to the surgeries. So if you have to go that route it will be ok. I actually was happy to go that route- vaginal birth always scared me since I saw the giving birth movie in high school health class.

Good luck and keep us posted.
