Default Degenerating fibroids?

I am new here. My RE is telling me that a degenerating fibroid in my uterus is responsible for my last miscarriage and possibly the one before that. (I've had 3 in a row) Apparently it has outgrown the blood supply and is starving the fetus to death. He is reccommending surgery to remove it.

Do any of you know anything about this?

Hi Deb,

Welcome to the board!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Are you in a lot of pain? I hear the degenerating fibroids can be very painful. The good news is it is "dying"- so when it is done it won't grow any more. The bad news is it is affecting your fertility and should be removed. I assume it is inside your uterus, so that surgery would probably be a hysteroscopy- I had that a few years ago. It is an outpatient surgery- you are home the same day and recovery is very quick. I was up and walking around that same day.

I highly reccommend removing fibroids if you want children. I know for a fact that I would not have my son and the son-to-be this Tuesday without my fibroid surgeries.

I wish you luck and please do not hestitate to drop by with questions and updates on you. I will be MIA for a little bit after the birth...but will be around soon. Toeandmel will be here too.
