Dh suprised me with tickets!! (Our anniversary is in a few weeks) I can't believe it!! I have never been to a race in person. Anyone been and know what I should take a long?? We will be leaving Mikaela with DH's cousins.

I have a friend that went to the Coca Cola 600 this year and he had a scanner with him to hear what the crews are saying. But I am totally not sure cause I have never been to a race either. I would so love to one of these years.

Definately take something to cover your ears, it's very loud when the cars go by! I wouldn't worry too much about a camera since the cars move way too fast, although you may be able to get some shots of them before and after the race.

Take a blanket and depending on the time the weight of the blanket. If you are going to be in a hot part of the day it should be a light weight, light colored. Even though you might say why a blanket in the heat it will help keep the sun off your legs and wear a wide brimmed hat, light weight long sleeved shirt. Take ear plugs, if you go to a sporting goods store and visit the area where they have guns and ammo you can get the kind of ear plugs that are foam and you roll it between your fingers to a skinny stick then insert one end into your ears they will slowly and gently open back up very comfortably in your ear. You will still be able to hear normal talking around you but it lowers the dB of the loud cars as they go by.
