Re: Wishing4baby (Michelle)--how are you?
Hey Stacy, I'm doing ok. The stupid witch showed up this morning and I was going to test tomorrow, so I guess I don't need to do that now. I was going to ask next time I saw you around, how did you know it was time to start IVF? Is that something that your RE suggested or a decision that you and DH decided? I am interested in the process. I don't know if that's what the DR would suggest now, but I am not sure that we aren't ready to start thinking that way. I just wondered. I know it is a very personal decision, so if you don't want to talk about it that's ok too.

Re: Wishing4baby (Michelle)--how are you?
I'm so sorry Michelle! I just hate the disappointment month after month. Feel free to PM or email me if you ever want to talk. As for deciding to move on to IVF, our RE suggested trying medicated IUI 3 times and based on statistics for likelihood of success then move on to IVF since we were paying out of pocket for all of it or we could go straight to IVF and bypass the IUIs as a more aggressive route. He said we could do several IUIs and have paid what it would cost for IVF, but he left it all up to us. Since the IUIs didn't work (I did try 3 medicated), I wish I had moved on to IVF sooner and had not been spending the money on the IUIs but there's that hindsight factor. I was super anxious to be moving forward though and felt like the IUIs would have worked for us by that point if that was the way for us to get pg. I was scared of IVF, but once I looked into it I found that it was sort of like more of what we had been doing already, more shots and more u/s's, etc. The retrieval wasn't bad at all since I was knocked out. My doctor overstimulated me so I'd only have to do the stimming part once (hopefully) and now we've got a ton of embies frozen for future use. If you think of any specific questions, feel free to ask me or pop over to the IVF board. The women over at IVF are extremely supportive and knowledgeable. I don't think I could have ever predicted even a year ago that I would eventually end up pg due to a frozen IVF cycle, but I am glad that I went for it and that the technology is available to help those of us who have been TTC for years or have health issues (I have hypothyroid and PCOS). I will never know if one more IUI would have worked for us and IVF is way more costly and invasive that IUI, but DH and I were both ready to try something new and thankfully it worked for us. Please know that I am thinking of you and wishing you all the best and for you to find whatever path that will get you the happy ending you deserve.

Re: Wishing4baby (Michelle)--how are you?
Thanks so much for the info. I don't know what the future holds for us. Our situation is a little bit different. Everything is paid for except for procedures, so in an IUI the only thing that we pay for is the actual IUI. I geuss that I've felt really defeated because we've now done three IUI's but only one was a medicated IUI and I got OHSS. At the time, I kind of felt like we were spinning our wheels with the IUI's. DH and I have a doc's appointment next tuesday, we will discuss next steps from there. The only reservation that I have is that I want to do it during the summer, as I won't have to miss work, so if we don't start IVF this summer we would wait until next summer to do it. Meanwhile, back at the ovaries, I have HUGE cysts on both sides. Seriously, you couldn't see the uteris triple lines between the ovaries, just huge bubbles. So the nurse that was there gave me a pack of bcp's to use this month so that whatever we decide to do next month (I'm thinking another medicated cycle right now) we will be ready and able when the time comes.
I so appreciate you sharing your story with me. I know it's not always ehat you want to share with folks, but having more info helps me to make the more informed decision. I almost posted it as a question on the IVF board, but got cold feet at the last minute, so I dumped it.
I hope that you are feeling well, and everything is going well with the baby. Did you find out weither it is a girl or boy or are you even going to? Hope all is well.

Re: Wishing4baby (Michelle)--how are you?
Michelle,
I'm so sorry about the cysts. That happened to me on my third medicated cycle too. I had to take something for a month to get rid of them and I remember being so upset that I was on hold. It was after that when I decided to move on to IVF. I suppose that I may have stuck with IUI attempts longer if it wasn't completely out of pocket for us. These decisions are tough and it is so frustrating. I sure hope that your dr has a good plan for you. If you are considering IVF for this summer at all, you should lurk on the IVF board and possibly post there. The ladies there are very helpful and supportive in my experience. I wish you all the best and am hoping to see your BFP post here really soon.
Thanks for asking about me. I'm doing great so far. My next OB appt is next Tuesday and I'll be 12wks this Sunday. So I'm nervous for this next appt to make sure that everything is still okay. We do want to find out the sex but have several weeks to go on that. I'll post when I know.
take care,
Stacy
