I went for my post IUI check up today, and I've got some questions about what we saw. I asked some of them to the nurse and I just would love to have some more opinions. My overies are very huge and lots of the eggs released as we saw by the corpus luetum (spelling?). So she didn't give me the booster. I am extremely sore and bloated. The nurse said that I am very close to ohss, so I should drink plenty of fluids and be careful. Is all this a good sign? We also did a blood draw, but won't get it back until the morning. I've never made it to this point, so I have no idea what all this is about. Any help would be fabulous. Thanks so much!

This is exactly what happened to me and it was all positive news. My ovaries stayed huge for 3 months - but I was pregnant. Just do as you are told. My Re has everyone take Progesterone supplements from the IUI to the Beta. My RE does not even do post IUI checkups stating that it is all out of his hands at that point. So keep praying darling and enjoy your physical misery. It means your body responded! And that is what you paid the doctor to do.

Michelle,
It's sounding good to me. I've heard that OHSS gets worse if you are pg. I did have it after my third medicated IUI, without being pg though because I had several follies. However, I think Jen had it while pg and so did Leah as you recall. I was told that the hormomes from being pg make the OHSS symptoms worse. When I did have it, I drank tons of Gatorade and ate salty foods like sunflower seeds and soups. I had to sleep sitting up too since the swollen ovaries pushed everything up. Try to rest a lot too. You don't want to twist your ovaries if you've got any cysts on them. The symptoms of OHSS are very uncomfortable, so make sure to do everything your nurse advised to try to lessen the effects. I'm hoping it is a great sign of your BFP!
