Icon5 ? about Menopur

Hello ladies! I am lurking from the IUI board. I am gearing up for my first injectibles cycle and was wondering.....is Menopur a subq shot? Or IM? And does it go in the belly?

I am going in on Thursday to get instruction, but I want as much info as possible before I go in, ya know?

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone!

...Angie!

I was just researching Menapur since my IVF cycle got cancelled and I'll be taking for the next IVF attempt. Here is a link I found:

Looks like it's an SQ injection but you have to mix it or dilute it! Let me know what you find out at your class!

I gave menopur as SQ injection to my abdomen. 30g needles make it less painful to give. I really had no side effects. I found clomid much worse.

I just started Menopur w/Gonal-F last night and have had no really noticeable side effects yet. It's super easy to reconstitute. I need to try to get some 30g needles, though - my doc gave me 26g and they're a little stingy! The 29g on the Gonal-F pen is great, though - can't hardly feel it at all!

I posted over on the IUI board how horrible my first Menopur shot was. Dh gave it to me and it was the worst shot experience in my life! And I am fine w/ needles usually.

Anybody have any tips on how to make it go easier on me? I'm not sure what gauge of needles they gave me (I'm at work right now) but the RE's office gave me what I needed...so..

I have to take another shot tonight and then Sunday night then Ovidrel as a trigger on Tuesday.

So, if any has any pointers let me know! Thanks!

Angie...hope tonight's shot goes way better!

The only thing I can suggest is icing the area, after swabbing the area with alcohol...make sure to let it dry.
