Default What level medication do you take?

Before I got pregnant my levels of synthroid ranged between .112 and .125 mcg. During my first pregnancy it was raised to .15 and on my second pregnancy it went up to .2! Then it went back to .15 and now that's a little too much so I'm going to try .137.

Hi... I'm interested in knowing which trimester you had to increase your thyroid medication dosage. My understanding is that it is usually early in 2nd tri from my DR. I have had hypothyroidsm since birth & currently taking .137mcg. Starting IUI #1 this month, and interested in some background info on this...

I believe that you should have a blood test as early as possible (and every couple of months) during pregnancy and that if it is borderline it is better to take a little too much than too little. I didn't have medical insurance until the end of my second trimester and when I finally went to the endocrinologist she did indicate that I should have had my meds regulated earlier b/c the studies that show the problems (with baby) of severe thyroid deficiency supposedly show them happening in the earlier months. But if you are currently on some level of medication it's very unlikely that your baby would have a severe deficiency.

I think the baby takes what it needs and leaves the mom deficient (Obviously not a medical expert here )

Hi Lisa! Thanks very much for your feedback on the hypothyroidism meds dosage. I am doing monthly monitoring of my TSH levels, as recommended by my endo, just to be sure that all is OK before I get preggie. I have heard so many people talk about m/c with thyroid issues, so it is good to come to this board to hear of the successes!
Hopefully, the fact that I know my levels so well (with hypothyroidism since birth), it should be easier for my endo to monitor for changes in dosage. Thanks!!

I am a member of the July 2004 board but suffer from hypothyroid disease as well. I took 0.125mcg of Synthroid before I got pregnant, at 3 months went to 0.150mcg and then at my 8 week post pardum checkup went back to 0.125mcg. This was the same for my first and second pregnancy. I will go this week to have my TSH levels checked again since going back to the lower does at 8 weeks pp.
My ob checked my levels every 10 weeks. He said a change of dosage took at least six weeks to register in your bloodstream for the test to be accurate.
Good luck to each of you!

I was on 250 mcg of Levothyroid. Wasn't doing it's job! So now I'm taking 240 mg of Armour Thyroid. And TTC #3 with no luck.

Hi, we have been trying to get pregnant for three months with no luck yet. I take .75 of Synthroid and just went to the doctor today to get my three month bloodwork to make sure my level is correct.
My OB said that we only have three months to try on our own because of my age 37 and my asthma and thyroid issues. This is month three and my doctors appointment is Monday. Anyone with suggestions??
