Default New to this forum - Hypothyroidism...

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum... I need some hope I guess... we've been ttc almost 11 months now... crazy I know! However I was diagnosed just over a month ago with hypothyroidism... I feel like its never going to happen for us... Id love to hear some hope. Today is CD25 and as far as I know no O as of yet! Ugh... Im so sick of this wait game!

Anyway I am 23 turning 24 and DH is 32... he's checked out A-Ok... which is great... its just regulating my body now!

Hi Pam. Your story sounds a bit familiar. I just posted a message about my journey a few threads ago. Please take a look at it. It will happen & I my DD#2 is proof of that. My Dh & I were on an emotional roller coaster while ttc her. I was a complete nut. My Dr was great. He really didn't do anything out of the ordinary but I give him a lot of credit just for finding a reason why I wasn't O'ing. Have you been temping or anything? It kind of helped & kind of made it a bit more frustrating at the same time. My recommendation is that if you are not temping, start now. The main reason I am saying this is because most Dr's won't be able to help you much until you have been charting for 3 cycles. That is so they can get a look at your cycles & try to come up with reasons. You, like I was, aren't O'ing so there wouldn't be a temp shift in your chart so that would tell your Dr that you aren't O'ing. If there was a shift it could just mean that you are not bd'ing at the right time to conceive or it may be something else. Once my Dr found out I wasn't O'ing he put me on provera to bring on af & then clomid to produce O. My first few cycles didn't work as we could tell from my temps so we tried a higher dose. I was ready to give up & I found out it finally worked. I was always buying HPT's & wasting money until I learned how to temp & read my charts. It really helped. As a matter of fact I am starting to chart this time already too.

Please feel free to ask me more questions. I will try to give you an answer, I have done a bit of reaserch on ttc with hypothyroidism.

I hope you get pg soon.

HI there, thank you for that information... Actually for my last 4 cycles I was charting - religiously... then I went to this new dr and he told me to stop - it was really stressing me out, I was always thinking about ttc... and since Ive stop WOW has it ever helped!!! I am on synthroid and go to see him this Thurs for a check up to see if the dose is working right, so thats good... Any info you have I would appreciate it! I do feel better but still have my moments... obviously!

The first thing is to make sure your thyroid med is working. You will start to feel better & hopefully all your other hormones will return to normal too. I started out on 50 mcg of synthroid & that worked for a while but over the years I have needed to have it increased & now I am at 150 mcg. I actually was more releived charting my temps because otherwise I was doing pg tests so often & convincing myself that maybe I did O & I was pg. I am so glad to hear your Dr is monitoring you thyroid function. Some people, once diagnosed don't have it rechecked as often as they should. I was told & have read that you should have it tested every 6 months or at least once a year at your anual check-up. I hope you start to O soon & you can get that bun baking! I will round up some info & post links for you.

Good luck!
