Default I am new! got a question.

Hello, I am new. We been trying to 7 years to get prego. I had 3 children from a previous marriage which are all grown now. 19/18/13.
Unfortunely that marriage ended in divorce.
I got remarried to a wonderful man ,that never had any kids and wehad my tubes untied so we could have a baby together which ended up having 4 m/cs.
I found out I had thyroid problems about 2 years ago. Went thru RAI and just now got my levels straighten out to ttc again. I had a HSG 2 months ago and all was clear! thank god. but still on 100mgs of clomid and no pregnancy yet.
I want to knw is there anyone here that had or have thryoid problems and got them corrected and went to carry a baby full term? and if so .. how long does it take u to conceive after u get corrected?
I will be 40 my birthday (sniff sniff) so i do not have alot of time here to play with.
My Re won't go with injectables or IUI becuz he thinks we can do this with them, but I am begining to think we can't.
I am about ready to give up becuz these 7 years has really been so hard on us.
anyone have any advice for me.... i'd really appreciate it alot!
glad to be here!
Robbi

Default Re: I am new! got a question.

Hi Robbi,

I had posted a somewhat similar question a while ago. I have struggled to keep my thyroid (especially my TSH) in line and up to now have not really been able to (I underwent RAI treatement etc due to hyperactive thyroid). I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to get pregnant due to my levels being so out of whack I am however finally pregnant and so far everything is going quite well. We are only 2 months along but with all the tests I have done it looks pretty good.
I would definitely suggest though that you push your doctor to at least go with IUI. Even though he thinks you can do it on your own - 7 years is a long time and I know how hard it is (we were TTC for almost 6) and as you mentioned, you don't have a huge amount of time on your hands. Let him know that you really want to try that option.

I hope everything works out for you!

Kim
