Re: PCOS and weightloss
Hi Mere,
When I was diagnosed as part of the screening from our first IVF, they put me on Metformin 1000 mg and then I switched to a low-carb/low-fat diet. I eat very little red meat and pork, but heavily consume dairy (low-fat), poultry, and fish. I also consume a large amount of fiber (whole grains, fresh vegetables, some fruits) to counter the digestive effects of the Metformin and all the dairy. To sate my occasional pasta/bread fixes, I've switched to whole grain versions and there is a great organic soy pasta on the market that has a lot of fiber and 10g protein/serving. Now that it is summer is is so easy to just grill some chicken or fish and toss a salad.
Of course, I am one of the 'lucky' PCOS girls in that I only put on about 20 lbs when I went off BCPs. I've dropped 10 since the m/c though and and an now hovering around 140 lbs on my 5'2" frame.
Good luck
