Default PCOS and insulin resistance

Hi girls I am new to this board. I am 29 and DH is 34. I just went to my RE and I was told that I have PCOS and I am getting a blood draw to check for insulin resistance. Does any one else have this? I guess I might be doing metformin and the clomind or injectibles. Does anyone know the sucess of getting preg. with these problems? My hubbys had a good s/a. Thanks for your help and good luck to all of you!!

Hi Welcome to the board,

I was told I have PCOS with insulin resistance in January . OUr plan is to take 6 months off TTC, during which I am to work out at least 45min per day / 5-6 days a week (to build muscle mass that will absorb the insuline without resistance), I have to lose some weight (20-30lbs) (to boost my chances to not have diabetes during the pregnancy...and better chances to have a healthy pregnancy) and DH is to boost his s/a by taking a cocktail of selenium, vitamin C and vitamin E ( again boost our chances to do only one procesdure) . When the 6 months are done, we will be going for injectables (I don't react to clomid) and IUI.

Hope you will not need to wait to long to start.

I have PCOS and borderline IR. I take 2000mg of Glucophage and 30 mg of Actos. Gluc alone did nothing for my cycles, but adding the Actos made all the difference. I actually had cycles for the first time in my life!

I haven't had success yet, but we also have male factor issues. I'm hoping the Actos has changed something enough to make my last ivf cycle a success.

Good luck!

I just found out that I am insulin resistant. It was a surprise because I don't fit the profile.
My OBGYN is inducing AF with provera. Then I'll do some Clomid. She also started me on Avandia 4mg. We might have to go to 8mg.
Does anyone know if 4mg of Avandia is equal to 2000 mg of glucophage or metphormin? Should I be taking 8mg?
