Icon5 PCO & Gastric bypass

Hi all,

I had gastric bypass in 2004 and lost 250 lbs (now at 150 lbs) My hubby and I have been trying to conceive for the last year now and nothing. Went to an endo said I had PCOS and didn't do anything for me. I went to my OB/GYN which comfirm that I had it by the black pearls (as he called it) so to make sure that was my only problem with conceiving they collected a sample from the hubby, troops are marching. Then did a test to make sure I had no blockage in my ovaries, that was fine. The Dr said I wasn't a typical PCOS patient because I had reg cycles and wasn't overwieght.
So last month he started me on metformin and clomid but about a week later he told me I needed to reduce my dosage of metformin because of the GB. Just wondering if there are any other gastric bypass people out there that have had or having the same issue.

I had my GB in 2005 and just had my baby in March. Before the GB, I had symptomatic PCOS and was on glucophage, but post op didn't need it. I hope they can figure out what the problem is.

Yohanna,
Are you seeing an RE or just an OB??

I had GB in 2001, and my PCOS was worse after the fact. They need to consider that you may not be overweight now, but you were. I would stay on the Met. as it really does help with the PCOS and the IR. I just had a daughter in January after 14 1/2 years of trying, and 3 IVF attempts, so it can happen. If you have any other questions, just ask....
