Default New plan of attack

sorry I have been MIA this last week, I went back to the mainland for a wedding... third one in three months! Thankfully the baby travels well, but it's still exhausting.
The day I left I had an appointment with my RE and he told me that he doesn't think clomid will work for me (I have been on 100 mg of clomid plus metformin). I didn't respond to it at all and he doesn't think that upping the dose will help any. So he wants to move on to injectables.... however, he is worried about major multiples, so he recommended that I do IVF. It seems so aggressive so fast, but I really like this doctor.... Also, he feels bad that my husband and my health insurance doesn't cover any of this, so he is going to try to put us in a study to get our drugs for free and is offering to do his work pro bono (still have to pay the anestigilogist and embroylogist, sp?)
; which i know is absolutely amazing! So i have to wait one more week and then I will start provera to bring on the next cycle and begin with Gonal-F in preparation for the big day.
I'm really nervous and I look at all the IVF stats and they are good, but not great (when you consider the expense). But do any of you ladies have experience with it? I would figure it would be higher success if your only problem is PCOS.... getting pg vs. staying pg....

I don't know much about IVF, but I know there are a few ladies on the board who have tried it and I'm sure they will respond. Just wanted to wish you luck and let you know how lucky you are for your doctor to be helping you out like he is. Good luck

That's awesome your doctor is going to help you like that. I pay out of pocket for IVF and it sucks! My doctor did give me the meds for my last cycle which was helpful. I hope the drug companies give him some more samples!

Anyways, I have pcos. I'm probably not the one to help you as we have some other problems as well, but I'm around if you have questions. I think you are a great candidate for it especially if you are getting such a good deal! Your age is a bonus and the fact that you have a child shows you can get pg!

You mentioned af and gonal-f immediately following it. Most women have to take bcps for a short time and then some have to take something for suppression before they start stimming. Did you doctor mention any of that? They like to shut everything down and start from scratch with the hormones... more control, I guess.

Good luck. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to ask me.

Good luck and I think it is wonderful what your DR is doing. I haven't had to do treatments yet so I can't help there.
