My name is Jennifer (31), dh Ryan (32). We have been married for 9 1/2 years. I have been ttc for six years on and off. I recently went to see my new RE and after asking me some questions and doing an ultrasound, suggested I might have PCOS. I went to do my glucose test yesterday so I'm just waiting for the results. If my insulin levels indicate I will start taking Metfromin. I'm so relieved to maybe have an answer or ate least a patrtial one. I also need to have an E tegrity test later this month. Has anyone had one? Also, my dh and I are going to proceed with IVF and are going to a information seminar through our RE on the 16th of January. I look forward to chatting with you all.

Jennifer

Jennifer -

Welcome! So sorry you have got to go through this but I am happy that you found us. I just started here in October and have found the women to be strong, optimistic and very supportive. I think you will find the same.

What is an E tegrity test? I have not heard of this. I have also done the glucose, insulin and most recently glucose tolerance tests...no fun. After the glucose and insulin tests everything came back ok with my insulin only slightly elevated. The doc didn't feel I was IR but started me on metformin anyways because I do have some of the other pcos symptoms. After some trouble with AF this summer, things seem to be turning around. I started the met in November and got af both in November and December. It even seems that I o'd in December. Just thought I'd share. There is a lot of hope, try to hang in there and use this board when you need to vent, share, ask questions or anything else you can think of...

Feel free to join us on the chatty thread.

welcome, jennifer! like debbie said, you'll find a lot of support here and you should DEFINITELY join the chatty thread. i was recently diagnosed with pcos. i'm about to start my 3rd cycle of clomid and hoping that it works this time!

i don't know what an e tegrity test is, either. good luck with it though! like debbie, i'm not ir but i'm not on met. it seems everyone is different even though we are so similar...

i look forward to getting to know you better. i hope the ivf consultation goes well. happy friday!

Thanks for the welcome Debbie and Brynn. Its good to find other people that can relate to what we all go through. The e tegrity test is about 9-11 dpo they take a biopsy of your lining to make see if you have a certain protein that is needed to sustain a pregnancy. They said just to take some advil before i come in and its just some cramping. However, thats what they said about the HSG which I found to be quite painful. Look forward to chatting more with you all.

hi! my mom just had that done. it was more a biopsy of her lining than "e tegrity" because she had some spotting 2 years post menopause and our doc is very...cautious. she said that it was uncomfortable but bearable. she didn't take anything beforehand cause she was having shoulder surgery the following day and wasn't allowed to have anything in her system (she had a rough week). i digress...just wanted to let you know that you'll definitely survive it. she said the most uncomfortable part was when they opened her cervix. sorry if tmi, but i'm assuming you want to know what to expect... i think you'll do great! good luck.

Thanks Brynn,

That does help. I just am always cautious as I think doctors tend to downplay how much a procedure can be uncomfortable or hurt.
